What a week. As the Iroquois County Fair comes to an end I want to thank all our members and extra help for providing extra coverage this last week. Since the fair opened on Tuesday we have staffed our ALS ambulance from 7am-2300/0000 depending on the event that day. We also staffed our secondary ambulance to provide coverage for all the events at the fair grounds such as the following. Demo derby, the draft horse pull, three tractor pulls (two got cancelled but we still had the ambulances staffed) the Rodeo and the horse arena events on the north end of the grounds on Saturday and Sunday am.
Every year we also have one of our Paramedic’s that stays out at the fair grounds in his camper for his family’s fair events and gives us immediate medical personnel as we respond from town.

Riverside ambulance is contracted to cover the first aid spot till 10pm and we stay on the grounds till later when the rides stop and the crowds dwindle down.
Thank you to the fair board for trusting us to provide excellent coverage to their great fair.

I calculated out how many man hours we provided in the district for the fair.
Approximate 310 hours were donated to cover our area for the fair at no cost to the fair or the citizens of our districts we cover. No calls were turned over to other agency’s while we were providing this coverage. We do pay our members to staff for these events due to the long hours it takes to make sure we are pre paired for any emergency that may happen. Total cost for this will be calculated and added once I have all the figures in.

The Crescent Iroquois EMS and Ambulance are sad to announce the passing of the last of our original founders. Larry served for over 45 years as a founder,EMT, then Coordinator. Always a smile and compassion to everyone he served. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.
