𝗪𝗜𝗖 𝗗𝗲𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Roxanne Cameron, WIC Coordinator!

As our WIC Coordinator and Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, Roxanne is passionate about supporting moms, babies, and families throughout Del Norte County.

Behind the scenes, Roxanne helps keep WIC running smoothly by coordinating training and making sure the program meets state and federal guidelines. But what matters most to Roxanne is meeting families where they are and providing support without judgment.
As a mom and grandmother, Roxanne understands how busy and challenging the early years of raising a family can be. Her goal is to make sure families know they are seen, supported, and have a place to turn when they need help, whether it’s nutrition, breastfeeding, emotional support, or simply someone to talk to.

𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗺𝘀 meets every Monday from 3:00–4:00 PM, except the first Monday of each month. It’s a welcoming space for moms to connect, ask questions, share what they’re going through, and take a moment to relax and connect with others.

PATH is expanding! More hours. More access. More support for Del Norte County.

Beginning Friday, August 28, 2026, Del Norte County Behavioral Health’s Providing Access To Hope (PATH) Mobile Crisis Team will be available 7 days a week, with expanded evening and weekend hours.

NEW HOURS:
📅 Monday–Friday | 8 AM–10 PM
📅 Saturday–Sunday | 11 AM–10 PM

PATH provides community-based support for individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder crisis. Our trained team can respond in the community to help de-escalate, stabilize, provide support, and connect individuals with appropriate services—with care and dignity.

We are excited to take this important next step in expanding access to behavioral health crisis services in Del Norte County.

Does your child need a vaccination to start school on time this year?

Del Norte County Public Health is offering Vaccination Clinics at local schools. Vaccines available vary by school:

Crescent Elk | Thursday, August 20 | 5–7 PM
7th grade vaccines: Tdap and 2nd Varicella

Joe Hamilton | Friday, August 21 | 1–4 PM
TK/Kindergarten vaccines: DTaP, Polio, MMR, Hepatitis B, and Varicella

Pine Grove | Saturday, August 22 | 11 AM–1 PM
TK/Kindergarten AND 7th grade vaccines

VFC eligibility is required. Your child must be eligible for the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program to receive vaccines at these clinics.

Bring your child’s vaccination record if available.

🦝 It's officially Raccoon Summer, and Jimothy has stolen America's heart.
But while we're all obsessed with Seattle's most famous raccoon, it's a good reminder: summer is the time rabies activity increases across the country. As wildlife gets more active this time of year, cases tend to rise in animals like raccoons, bats, skunks, and foxes.
Here's how we help Jimothy, all his wild neighbors, and your family stay safe:
🚫 Admire wildlife from a distance. No petting, no feeding, no cornering them for the perfect video.
📞 See a sick, injured, or wild animal behaving strangely? Don't approach: call your local animal control or wildlife agency.
🐾 Keep pets up to date on rabies vaccines.

It’s California HPV Vaccine Week! Did you know that the HPV vaccine helps prevent six types of cancers? The American Academy of Pediatrics continues to recommend the HPV vaccine for all children ages 9-12. Vaccination is recommended early in life to help protect children long before they ever have contact with the virus. Give your child powerful protection for the future.

It's that time again! Fair season is here, and that means more opportunities to visit petting zoos, livestock exhibits, and animal barns.

While spending time with animals is fun, it's important to protect yourself and your family from germs that can spread between animals and people.

Remember to wash your hands:
• After touching animals or anything in their living area
• After leaving the animal exhibit
• Before eating or drinking
• After using the restroom

Use soap and clean, running water, scrub for at least 20 seconds, rinse, and dry with a clean towel or air dry.

A few moments spent washing your hands can help keep everyone healthy so you can enjoy all the fun the fair has to offer!

Stop by between 2:00 and 4:00 PM to connect with other moms, enjoy light refreshments, and learn about the breastfeeding support available through WIC. Whether you're expecting, currently breastfeeding, or just have questions, we'd love to see you.
