SPECIAL MEETING CANCELLATION NOTICE: Notice is hereby given that the special City Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 19th at 5:30 p.m. to appoint three nominated council members to the City Council and to cancel the November 3rd General Municipal Election is CANCELLED. Due to publication deadlines, the City submitted the notice of special meeting to the newspaper the day before the final filing deadline for candidates to submit nomination papers. After the newspaper went to print, another candidate submitted nomination papers for a full term City Council seat. Thus, the City will proceed with the General Municipal Election on November 3, 2026 as scheduled.

Hwy 199 Temporary Closure has been moved to August 13 from 10 am - 2 pm. Safe travels.

199 CLOSURE PUSHED TO 8/13: Heads up, Del Norte County: Travelers along U.S. 199 near Patrick Creek at postmile 20.5 should expect a single 4-hour closure between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 13. We'd hoped to get this work done today but it wasn't in the cards, and 199 is open as we write this post on 8/12. Once the August 13 closure is completed, additional closures are not expected for several weeks.

The traffic hold is necessary to safely position a crane. Traffic cannot safely pass through the area while the operation is underway.
We’ll update this post if field operations alter the timeline. Please plan accordingly.

Join us for a competitive pump track event on Saturday, August 29th. Age groups are as follows: 5 & under, 6-9, 10-13, & 14-18. All minors will need a parent's signature on the provided waiver. Registration begins at 9:30 am and the event will start at 11 am. All pump track rules apply. The Del Norte Trail Alliance is providing raffle prizes for participants and the City will provide awards. Bring the entire family out for fun, food, and a little competition. Hwy 199 Temporary Full Closure

Caltrans has advised us that the full closure of Highway 199 is in effect now through approximately 6:00 pm today, August 12, 2026. If anything changes, we'll do our best to provide an update.

Temporary Water Outage Notification:

Friday, August 14th starting at 8:00 am, City water will be shut off for up to 4 hours. This will only affect water customers in the area along Front Street from K Street to N Street. This is necessary due to Front Street construction. If you have any questions, please call City of Crescent City Public Works Dept. at 707-464-9506.

The weather was perfect for the annual National Night Out event. Thank you to all of our Law Enforcement & First Responder agencies that attended and provided information. We appreciate Seaquake Brewing for providing a free meal to every person that attended! Thanks to CCPD Reserve Officer Valero for coordinating the event; live music by Black GTO, and all of the sponsors and volunteers! See you all next year!!
