The Del Norte County Library District is composed of the Main Library, a branch library in Smith River, and the library literacy program, Del Norte Reads. The main branch library was established as the Ladies Library by volunteers in 1906. The libr
ary moved to its current location in February 1983. The Smith River branch opened in April 2002. The DNCL provides free services to all residents living within the boundaries of Del Norte County with services available to all others for an annual fee. The library system holds over 82,000 materials – books, magazines, DVDs, compact discs, audio books, and more. The current building was dedicated in 1983 and was remodeled in 2020. In addition, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic resources, access the Internet through the Library’s state-of-the-art Wi-Fi service, view a library exhibit, or attend one of the library’s many events. The friendly staff is eager to serve you. Welcome to the Del Norte County Library! Our Mission
