🚨 CHECK YOUR SETTINGS BEFORE YOU RIDE 🚨

There have been a lot of accidental 911 misdials during the fair in previous years, mostly while people are on certain rides. Your phone may think the fast action of the rides is you possibly getting into a car accident or falling and will call emergency services to come to your aid.

Please review your settings, as these calls take away from actual emergencies needing to come through to our dispatch center. Below are examples of iPhone/Android ways to turn off this emergency SOS setting.

This week, starting Wednesday, begins the Mighty Howard County Fair! 🎡🎢🎟️🎠

Reminders during the most fun filled time of the year:

Drinking 🍺 + Driving 🚗 could land you in jail. If you plan to participate in consuming alcoholic beverages during the fair, remember to find a sober driver.

Police Officers and other law enforcement entities will be walking around and patrolling the fairgrounds but cannot always be there as they are still on duty for the entire city of Cresco. If you have a non-emergency but need police, please call 547-2424. For any emergencies, please remember to call 911.

You may also refer to the Fair Board if you have any issues that arise that may not necessarily need police, the fair office is located in the Featherlite Building, and their number is 547-3400 from 7a-10p daily during the fair.

And last but not least, if you SEE something, SAY something. Stay vigilant and responsible. Do not leave bags unattended. Remind children to stay close and make sure they are supervised.

Have a great fair, good luck if you are showing animals or entering contests, and don’t forget to enjoy that funnel cake you’ve wanted all year!

🚗🛍️ CITY-WIDE GARAGE SALE PARKING REMINDER 🛍️🚗

We know the deals are amazing. We know that vintage lamp, barely-used treadmill, or box of mystery treasures is calling your name.

However, finding a bargain does NOT come with a free pass to park wherever you want. 😅

Please remember:
✅ Do not block driveways
✅ Do not park in intersections
✅ Do not park too close to stop signs or fire hydrants
✅ Do not block sidewalks
✅ Follow all posted parking regulations

Our officers will be out and about during the City-Wide Garage Sales.

Vehicles parked illegally may be subject to enforcement action, including parking citations.

The only thing that should be a steal this weekend is the deal you found at a garage sale—not the parking spot you weren't supposed to use.
