Protecting the Environment is the responsibility of all and when a resident takes it upon herself to make sure our town takes a stand it shows true devotion. Stephanie Cropper brought to the attention of the Council and the Commission the need to support the Polluters Pay Act. Generally speaking it gives the government the ability for polluters to pay for climate initiatives before the damages are incurred. This past Wednesday the Mayor and Council passed a resolution to support the Act and we applaud their efforts and the passion of Ms Cooper.

Joe was a member of the Cresskill Environmental Commission and a strong defender of the natural beauty of Cresskill and neighboring towns. His pragmatic approach to environmental issues grounded us and ensured our approach and consistency. He was a great friend with a generous spirit and will be missed but his legacy will always be with us. Our hearts go out to his family.

We want to thank Brianna Savinon for spending her time presenting her Girl Scout Award project. She was discussing the environmental impact of not cleaning up after our furry family members. We will continue to work with Brianna on this project and praise her for her passion.

I am assuming when you are done with a napkin at home you do not just drop it on the floor. Cresskill is our home so please treat it as such. Use trash receptacles or just wait to you get home/office to throw it out properly. Dropping it on the ground not only makes the town look dirty, it clogs sewer drains which exacerbates our flooding issues.

The Commission is inviting anyone who wants to get out of the rain to attend our monthly meeting. We are incorporating a Q&A of the Northern Valley Greenway (aka possible conversion of Railroad Tracks to walking/biking path). 7:30 this Wednesday, Sept 27th, at Borough Hall Meeting room
