Cresskill Police Department Supports FIFA World Cup Safety Efforts

The Cresskill Police Department was proud to support the FIFA World Cup by helping ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for residents and visitors alike.

For the first United States match, the department provided a visible public safety presence during the community watch party, where fans gathered to enjoy the game on a large projection screen. Officers worked to ensure the event remained safe, secure, and family-friendly for everyone in attendance.

In addition, Officer Stephen Wrightson served as a member of the Rapid Deployment Team (RDT), providing safety and security both onsite and in the surrounding areas for World Cup matches and larger public watch parties at the Meadowlands. Through careful planning and scheduling, nearly all assignments were coordinated while on duty, minimizing overtime and ensuring there was virtually no additional financial burden placed on the Borough of Cresskill or its residents.

The Cresskill Police Department remains committed to supporting major regional events while continuing to provide exceptional service to the community through responsible planning, professionalism, and public safety.

🚔 Cresskill Junior Police Academy – Day 4 🚤💪

Our Cresskill Junior Police Academy recruits kicked off the day with physical fitness challenges, continuing to build the discipline, teamwork, and resilience that have been emphasized throughout the week.

The class then traveled by bus to the Alpine Boat Basin, where they were welcomed by the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Emergency Service Unit for an unforgettable hands-on learning experience.

Recruits boarded a police patrol vessel and ventured onto the Hudson River, where officers demonstrated the many responsibilities of a marine unit. Students learned how police boats patrol our waterways, respond to boating emergencies, conduct search and rescue operations, assist stranded boaters, and provide critical support during water-related incidents. It was an incredible opportunity to see firsthand the unique challenges and specialized training required to keep our waterways safe.

A sincere thank you to the dedicated members of the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Emergency Service Unit for taking the time to educate and inspire our future leaders. Your professionalism and commitment to public safety made this an experience our recruits will never forget.

The day concluded the same way the week began—with more discipline, training, teamwork, and personal development, reinforcing the core values of the Junior Police Academy.

Another outstanding day of learning, leadership, and unforgettable memories! 👮‍♂️🚤🇺🇸
