Ah yes… the final week of school. The kids are hanging on by a thread, the teachers are surviving purely on caffeine, and we’re here to help send everyone into summer!

Field Day is a time-honored tradition we’re always excited to be part of! Nothing says “happy summer break” quite like spraying kids with water and watching them launch themselves into mud puddles.

Happy almost summer break to Crestline Exempted Village School District!

Yesterday, May 2nd, was a busy day for Crestline Firefighters.

At approximately 11 am, Crestline Fire was requested for mutual aid with Jefferson Township Fire Dept. along with Galion FD and Life First Ambulance District for a vehicle accident on US 30 and SR 598. The vehicle had 6 occupants, requiring multiple EMS units for patient care and transport. We assisted with extrication and patient care.

At approximately 945 pm, we were dispatched to a fire at the Just Jokin restaurant, a commercial establishment that requires a large amount of resources. Mutual aid was requested from Springfield Township Fire Department/Ontario and Jefferson Township FD. The fire was contained to the roof and ceiling. During the fire, off-duty personnel responded to a squad call.

This shows the importance of full-service staffing and having a good relationship with our neighboring departments. We are proud of our department members for handling the emergency calls with professionalism and dedication to the citizens of Crestline and beyond.

Also a reminder, all these emergency calls were handled with just 2 people on duty. Both of these high-acuity calls required off duty personnel to respond from their homes for extra hands. During these active incidents, there is a high probability that another emergency could go unanswered due to limited resources.

From January 1st through April 29th, our department has responded to 371 total calls. That’s an increase of 54 more calls compared to this time last year. We are busier than ever!

This increase in calls is a clear reminder that the need for emergency services in our community continues to grow, and our members remain ready 24/7 to handle any emergency that happens.

We are proud to serve Crestline with courage, compassion and commitment. Thank you to our community for your continuous support!

This evening we had the pleasure of rescuing another cat who also likes to have a high vantage point. Fortunately this youngster was in reach of a ground ladder.

Cat rescue!! 🐾

Today we helped a curious kitty who made it a little too far up into the tree and couldn’t find a way down! “Dasher” likes to look at things from a high point of view, but was ready to get inside and be with his humans! Thanks to the Crestline Street Department for assisting in rescuing the kitten!
