Southwest Iowa Driver's Education

Hi all - just a quick update on our Summer Driver's Education sessions. First of all thank you for all of the inquiries in to our classes. Please feel free to share our information with anybody who may be interested in signing up. We still have openings in all three of our potential Summer DE classes.

Currently we have a lot of "moving parts" that are affecting our Summer classes. We are going to have to be flexible and adapt as we can.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we currently can only have 10 people in the classroom. There is hope that those numbers will increase by the time our class starts in late May. IF the situation is still unsafe, then we will then have our first session of the Summer ONLINE via ZOOM.

The other news is that we may potentially be expanding into a new community. We should have more news on that early next week. It will be an exciting opportunity for Southwest Iowa Driver's Education and students / families of Southwest Iowa.

Thanks all - let us know if we can be of service to you.

Temporary Moped Distance Learning

The Iowa Department of Transportation has made some adjustments to aid our customers in the delivery of Motorized Bicycle (Moped) Education. Student contact hours may now be done virtually in a live interactive setting. This does NOT allow self-study where the student is not monitored, supervised, or instructed. If interested, reach out to the entities listed at http://iowadot.gov/mvd/motorcycle/moped-instructors. (Some entities may not offer remote location.)

Thank you to all the parents who have reached out about our Summer 2020 classes. We are moving forward with the plan to have classes this summer.

If restrictions have been relaxed, then we will be having classes as normal. If Social Gathering restrictions (quantity of people) are still in place then we will alter our classes at that point in time to match the guidelines. We will have the ability to have online classes if full restrictions are in place, or multiple classes to accommodate all of our students if guidelines have been relaxed.

Check out our website at southwestiowade.com for more information about our classes. Remember you don't have to provide a deposit check at this point in time, unless you are wanting to. You can print out the registration form and mail it to us, or email it to us. Just let us know which class you want to be in, and we will pencil your student into that class and worry about payment as we get closer to the class.

According to an email from the Iowa DOT there may have been some confusion about their "Skip The Trip" program that was released this week. In some areas it was reported incorrectly that this would allow parents to teach DE from home. That is not the case - it was merely saying that parents could apply to give their student the PERMIT TEST at home instead of trying to get in to the DOT during this down time.

As always thank you for your support of our classes throughout the years! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 641-202-1651.
