November 15th is quickly approaching us. Here is a friendly reminder of our snow ordinance!
The snow removal ordinance starts November 15th and goes until March 31st. Below is the text of the warnings papers we try and put out to violators when the ordinance goes into effect.

"WARNING – SNOW REMOVAL ORDINANCE 69.15
The City of Creston’s Snow Removal ordinance requires vehicles to park on alternate sides of the street between November 15th through March 31st. The ordinance provides “on the street sides where building bear even numbers, that is on the south and west sides of the streets, parking is prohibited on all odd numbered days from 1AM to 7AM”. It further provides “on street sides where building bear odd numbers, that is the north and east sides of the streets, parking is prohibited on all even numbered days from 1AM to 7AM”. Parking in city lots is also prohibited between 2AM and 6AM irregardless of date. The fine for violation of this ordinance is $25 if paid within 30 days. After 30 days a $5 late fee will be imposed. Violations not paid after 60 days are subject to further sanctions. It is important to note the ordinance goes into effect at 1AM, so if you park your vehicle for the night before midnight, you need to park for the next day. For example, if today’s date is even, when you park tonight you need to park on the ODD side of the street in order to account for tomorrow’s date. NO PARKING signs are disregarded during the snow removal season during snow removal hours."

The Creston Police Department would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July! We also would like to remind you that we are participating in the STEP program during the holiday which means our officers will be stepping up their traffic enforcement.

Another topic I’d like to discuss is that calling 9-1-1 to report fireworks violations is not ok. 9-1-1 is for life threatening emergencies. Please use our non-emergency number of 641-782-8402 to report violations.

They will be wearing DNR clothing and have DNR marked vehicles in the area they are working. They will be carrying hand held devices to document the data they are collecting. (Not me personally. A resident of Creston shared this.) So today I opened this NEW gallon of milk that a daycare father of 4 bought at our Walmart (Creston, Iowa) yesterday. It took me at least 15 minutes to pry the lid off this jug of milk to find the inside seal was broke and nasty black hunk under the seal, after inspecting the lid , I can clearly see that someone tampered with milk, with a needle and glued it shut. I didn’t serve this to our children in daycare, I fear the worse seeing this 😱 My husband took this gallon of milk to Walmart and told them to watch for tampering, but the acted like they really didn’t care about the issue at hand 🤷🏼‍♀️, so he took the milk to the police station to inform them of the tampering and they didn’t feel it was a threat either. Ok this really is upsetting because anyone could have gotten this milk and who knows if it was contaminated or even tainted with poison and seriously made someone ill or even death! This is a very sick world we live in!! *****PLEASE BE ADVISED TO WATCH FOR TAMPERING ON YOUR MILK *****

I am a widow and she is my beloved companion and greatly missed.
