Ashe Outreach

Ashe Outreach Ashe Outreach Ministries feed people with food, fellowship and love. We provide food from a community of efforts.

AOM feeds people with food, fellowship and love via mobile meals, a food pantry, food backpacks for children to take home each week and a community fish fry held the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. Families take home vital groceries; shut-ins enjoy a respite from loneliness while receiving a hot meal; children bring home food for the weekend–all part of a community-wide effort to eliminate food

insecurity, address child nutrition and extend the hand of God to others. AOM is a 501c3 nonprofit organization staffed entirely with volunteers.

After an inexcusable break in the recognition of our outstanding volunteers, we are finally back to doing so. We are proud to introduce to you a gentleman who was a career fire fighter in Boston rising to the rank of Lieutenant before moving to Creston six years ago. He is currently a member of the Creston VFD. Much of his time is spent as a lay minister preaching in NC, VA and TN. He is also active in two important ministries: The Lighted Path Ministries helping to empower young youths to be independent, self-sufficient members of society and Seeking the Lost Ministries seeking to share and uphold the truths and principles plainly written in the Word of God. Marcus has come on board with Ashe Outreach Ministries as a versatile and talented member of the Friday night Fish Fry team. He is able to work any position in the kitchen or dining area, wherever his talent is needed. We are most fortunate that despite the many hats that Marcus wears, he is able and willing to come out and make our fish fries a huge success. It is an honor to recognize Marcus Dennis as the Ashe Outreach Ministries Hero of the Month for May/June 2026.

Can you believe it? Another fish fry with over 400 plates served, 413 to be exact. I can't say enough about what a great evening it was. Lots of new faces in the crowd as well as those who hardly ever miss a fry. We also had a slightly different line-up in the kitchen, but you'd never know it given how well they dished up the plates. We also had a few new faces working the dining room as well as taking trays down to the banquet room. Wonderful results all the way around from our dedicated volunteers! We are so appreciative to everyone for being there and supporting our food ministry. It truly makes a difference in our ability to serve our neighbors. Speaking of that, just a reminder that at 9am on Saturday, we'll be handing out produce boxes, meat and eggs. Two boxes per vehicle so that we can serve as many people as possible before we run out and we'll definitely run out even though we'll have over 150 boxes. Thanks again to everyone and God bless you all and God bless the USA as we approach the National Day of Prayer.

Good news is that we received additional produce boxes to distribute on Saturday, 9am until we run out. Bad news is that we didn't receive any chicken, but we did get our normal ration of ground beef. The photo below is exactly what each family will get at our drive-thru distribution at Ashe Outreach, 11719 NC Hwy 88W, Creston (3 lbs. ground chuck, 2 dozen eggs, sack of potatoes, 5 ears of corn, oranges, tangerines, cabbages and pears). Each vehicle can pick up two boxes. We are trying to spread the peanut butter thin enough so that more folks get their fair share of these items. Hoping that everyone who needs this food is able to get some on Saturday. God bless you all!
