The water main project on West St is still ongoing. Last week's rain put the project behind. Tuesday morning, 6/23/26, at around 8:00 am, the Village will be shutting off the water on Regulator's St. The first 5 homes on that street will be affected. The addresses are 403, 411, 419, 427, 435. Please plan accordingly. There will be a Boil Order in place once water service is restored and that will continue until the water samples come back clean. Please stock up on bottled water if possible. Please plan any activities that require water (showers, laundry, etc) to be completed before 8am on 6/23/26. We know this is an inconvenience and we apologize for that. We are doing these projects to make our water as clean and as safe as we can, so we appreciate your patience as we continue to do this work. We will let you know when the Boil Order begins and when it is over. Again, this only affects the 5 address listed above and will provide updates as they become available. After the work on West Street is done, a new fire hydrant and some new valves will be installed in the vicinity of Main and Depot Streets. We will also keep you updated on that work as it begins and when it ends. Thank you for your patience. It is greatly appreciated.

The windy conditions we had on Wednesday knocked the street sign at the corner of N Main St and E North St off its post. It was lying on the ground Wednesday evening but when Curtis went back to get it on Thursday, it was gone. If you know where it is, could you please let us know? If you have it, could you please return it so that we can put it back up on its post? Thank you.

On Tuesday 6/16/26, weather permitting, the Village will begin the process of replacing the water main on S West Street near the subdivision. Water will need to be shut off to switch the affected services to the new main, which will result in a Boil Order for those homes. The homes affected will be on S Beck Road and S West Street. The first 3 homes on Regulators St near Creston Rd may also be impacted. Once the replacement is complete, residents may experience yellow water. This water main replacement is part of the Village's ongoing efforts to rid the village of the rust and sediment problems we have long had with our water system. When traveling in the area of the work, please obey posted speed limits and please watch out for "construction holes" on the side of the road. We will provide updates as more information becomes available. We thank you for your patience as we work to make our water as safe as possible.

The Water Tower is back online. The Village passed all of the required water tests, which help us ensure that the water is safe. The water might have a stronger taste or smell of chlorine, but that will lessen the longer the tower is online. We thank you for your patience with this process and we are hopeful that the installation of the mixer will help us solve the sediment and rust problems that the Village has been having for so long.

Update #2
The water tower is back online and the water system has been restored to normal operations.

Update
The water tower work is complete and all the water samples have come back good. However, we are waiting for EPA approval to put the water tower back on line. Since the tower is offline, pressure relief valves installed on fire hydrants are still necessary to control system pressure. You may still see water flowing from fire hydrants around the Village. It is not necessary to contact the Ogle County Sheriff's Department, the Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District, or the Rochelle Fire Department to report open fire hydrants.
