School is back in session, and we are happy to welcome students back to the classroom. SRO Officer Pashek will be at the Creston Community Schools throughout the year. If you see a patrol vehicle or officers out at the schools, no need for alarm. Our officers will be on scene for different events such as school drop off and pickup, sporting events, and other school related activities. We are here to make sure these events run smoothly and answer any questions you may have for our officers.

Join us in welcoming another one of our newest officers. Officer Weis joins the department with prior experience working in the Union County Jail and for the dispatch center. Officer Weis will be attending the academy with Officer Ramirez.

Join us by welcoming our newest officer to our department. Officer Ramirez joins us from his last position where he was employed as a dispatcher. Officer Ramierz and Officer Weis will attend the academy later this month and upon completion, return to finalize their training.

You may see these officers out patrolling with our senior officers as they gain valuable knowledge before attending the academy. Be sure to say hello, and welcome to the department!

Thank you to everyone who was able to make this year's National Night Out possible!

Thank you to all of the sponsors, vendors, and those who volunteered in one way or another. We could not have made it possible without everyone's help. Although it did rain, we were able to see so many people and have a wonderful time. We can't wait for next year!

Thanks to funding received through the Helmsley grant, the Creston Police Department has obtained six new automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
An AED has now been placed in each of our patrol vehicles, putting this lifesaving equipment out in the community every day. Because our officers are frequently already on patrol when an emergency occurs, this will allow them to access an AED quickly and begin providing care while additional emergency personnel are responding.
We have also placed Narcan with each AED, further equipping our officers to respond when someone is experiencing a suspected opioid overdose.
This is another step in our continued effort to provide better service, improve our emergency-response capabilities, and make proactive, positive progress in how we serve and protect our community.
We are grateful for the Helmsley grant and the opportunity it has given us to place more lifesaving resources directly into our community.

Defensive Tactics instructors Officer Campbell and Officer Pashek teach the Creston Police Department and Union County Jail different techniques for vehicle extractions.

These skills are valuable as they teach officers how to safely remove an individual who is resisting commands to exit a vehicle.

There are times in law enforcement when we receive a call that's out of the ordinary. Today was one of those days. We've got chickens on the loose!

Thankfully Officer Humburg and Officer Weis were able to wrangle these chickens safely back to their residence. "Dispatch, the chickens are secure!" 🐔

TEMPORARY NO PARKING NOTICE – JULY 4TH EVENTS
The Creston Police Department would like to remind everyone of several temporary No Parking restrictions that will be in effect during the City's Fourth of July celebrations. These restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of participants, spectators, and emergency personnel during these City approved events.
Fourth of July Flea Market
No Parking: 9:00 PM on Thursday, July 3 through 5:00 PM on Friday, July 4
No parking will be permitted in the 100 Block of N. Maple Street, between Adams Street and Montgomery Street, for the Fourth of July Flea Market.

Fourth of July Parade
Saturday, July 4 – Parade Begins at 10:00 AM
Temporary No Parking restrictions will be in effect along the entire parade route.
Parade Route:
• Starts at Mills Street & Pine Street
• South on Pine Street to Montgomery Street
• West on Montgomery Street to Division Street
• South on Division Street to Adams Street
• East on Adams Street to Walnut Street
• North on Walnut Street to Montgomery Street
• East on Montgomery Street to Cherry Street (disband)

Parade Line-Up Areas
No Parking: 8:30 AM until approximately 1:00 PM
The following streets will also be designated as No Parking to accommodate parade staging:
• Cherry Street from Montgomery Street to Howard Street
• Mills Street from Pine Street to Cedar Street

Officers will be stationed throughout the parade route to assist with traffic control and pedestrian safety. Temporary "No Parking – Police Order" signs will be placed in some of the affected areas as reminders of these parking restrictions. Vehicles parked in posted restricted areas may be cited and/or towed if necessary to facilitate the event.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience as we celebrate Independence Day together. These temporary restrictions help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.
