Joint Training

Florida Army National Guard and CFD held a joint training exercise at our Training Tower last week for their RSP Training Day.

DEPLOYMENT

Early this morning - 4 Members from CFD deployed as part of an Engine Strike Team to assist with the ongoing wildfires near Fort Worth, Texas.

Our crew is attached with several other Okaloosa County Fire Departments and are currently westbound to provide assistance wherever they may be needed!

* At 315 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 14 miles northwest
of Laurel Hill, or 20 miles southwest of Andalusia, moving
southeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include...
Florala, Laurel Hill, and Lockhart.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately.

Another heat advisory for our area. Please stay safe. Check out these tips provided by the US National Weather Service Mobile Alabama.

Hot and humid conditions continue today with a Heat Advisory in effect for the entire area. High temperatures will be in the mid and upper 90s with heat index values of 105 to 112. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again this afternoon. A few strong storms are possible with gusty winds, frequent lightning and very heavy rain.

2027 Crestview Fire Department Food Truck Inspection Decal Design Contest

Calling All Young Artists!

🔥 Know You Can Design Better than Crestview's Fire Marshal? 🔥

Crestview Fire Department is looking for a new design for our 2027 Food Truck Inspection Decals!

The winning design will be printed and displayed on the exterior of inspected food trucks operating within the City of Crestview throughout 2027.

Show us what you've got and outshine Fire Marshal Hypes' 2026 design! 😎🔥

Contest Rules:
1. Contestants must be 18 years old or younger and/or enrolled in a Crestview school or homeschool group.
2. The design must contain “CFD” or “Crestview Fire Department.”
3. The design must contain the year “2027.”
4. Designs must not contain lewd, offensive, or inappropriate content.
5. Each contestant may submit a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 2 designs.
6. All information on the entry form must be completed fully.
7. Entries must be submitted no later than November 30, 2026.
8. No AI or ChatGPT-created artwork. This contest is about your creativity and your original artwork!

Additional Information:
Crestview Fire Department colors are Red, Black, and Yellow/Gold, but artists are not limited to these colors.
Designs may include the City of Crestview logo to show your community pride!
Initial judging will be completed by participating Crestview firefighters, who will select the Top 20 entries.
The final design will be selected by Fire Marshal Hypes and the Crestview Fire Prevention Division.
Fire Marshal Hypes may confirm contestant information with guardians by calling from 850-598-9648.
Teachers of class submissions will be main contact for those students.

Residential Fire with Rescue Press Release

At 12:51AM on 08/13/2026 - C Shifts Engine 1, Battalion 1, Engine 2, Truck 3 were dispatched to a residential structure fire with heavy smoke and flames showing in the area of 2nd Avenue. Upon arrival, crews encountered a single-story heavy with heavy smoke throughout and a well-involved fire in the rear of the home.

As crews entered, they immediately located an unconscious victim, who was removed and passed on to Okaloosa County EMS, who airlifted the patient to a certified burn center. Additionally, another patient who escaped the structure prior to Fire Department’s arrival was transported by EMS.

Crews continued suppression and search efforts under zero-visibility and high-heat conditions until all searches proved negative. The fire was knocked down approximately 10 minutes after crews entered and began extinguishment. After extensive salvage and overhaul, crews cleared the incident around 4AM and the scene was turned over to the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office for an ongoing investigation to the cause of the fire.
