🚨 Safety Reminder: Watson Road Bridge Construction

As MoDOT continues replacing the bridge over Gravois Creek on Watson Road, a designated pedestrian and bicycle detour is in place.

For your safety, please do not enter the active construction zone or walk or bike in the traffic lanes to get between Pardee Lane and Brookview Drive. Heavy equipment and construction vehicles are operating throughout the work area.

Please follow the posted detour using Watson Industrial Park Drive and Grant's Trail. While it may add a few extra minutes to your trip, it's the safest route until the project is complete.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep our community safe. 🚧🚲🚶

We’re beefing up the signage along our bike/pedestrian detour around the bridge closure on Route 366 (Watson Road) at Gravois Creek. Please use the detour (Watson Industrial Park and Grant’s Trail) to avoid the closure. Please don’t cross through the construction area (as we have a lot of moving equipment) or step into the through traffic lanes – Neither are a safe route to get between Pardee and Brockview here. We understand it is significantly longer, but we want to make sure cyclists and pedestrians stay safe through the remainder of this bridge work. There are other ways to access Grant’s Trail near Route 366, including at Crestwood Plaza or the trailhead at Pardee.

An alert employee at Watson Gas Mart and a quick response from Officer Andrew Gift helped prevent an 82-year-old woman from losing $7,000 to a scam yesterday. 🤥

The woman was on the phone with someone claiming to be from Apple Support and was preparing to send cash through a Bitcoin transaction when a store employee recognized the warning signs and called police. Officer Gift responded and intervened before the money was sent.

This incident is a reminder that scammers often create a sense of urgency and demand payment through gift cards, Bitcoin, or other nontraditional payment methods. Legitimate businesses, government agencies and law enforcement will never request payment this way.

If you receive an unexpected call, text or email requesting money, pause before acting. Verify the request using a trusted phone number and talk to someone you trust.

Watch the video as Business Resource Officer Matt Hill explains how the scam unfolded and shares tips to help protect yourself and your loved ones from fraud.
