We're excited to once again be part of one of Crestwood's greatest traditions, Crestwood Night Out!

This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for neighbors to come together, strengthen community connections and get to know the Police and Fire personnel who proudly serve our city. We look forward to visiting neighborhoods, meeting residents and celebrating with you on Saturday, Sept. 12.

✔️ Make sure everyone knows two ways out of each room, if possible.
✔️ Choose a meeting place outside where everyone will gather.
✔️ Practice your home fire drill at least twice a year.
✔️ Once you're outside, stay outside.

If a fire starts, when in doubt, get out. Close doors behind you as you leave to help slow the spread of fire, then call 911 from a safe location.

Our first responders team constantly puts in work to make our community trusting and safe.

Being prepared before an emergency happens could mean the difference between life or death. That’s why for the month of June, Crestwood’s Police Department, Fire Department and Crestwood Aquatic Center’s lifeguards attended three surprise drowning simulation trainings with BJC HealthCare.

The trainings, which occurred at Crestwood Aquatic Center on June 16, June 24 and June 26, were held by Dr. Joseph Finney of St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Each session highlighted the procedures necessary for the departments in the event of an accident.

With specialized training, Crestwood's public safety team is prepared to respond efficiently when real emergencies occur, giving residents confidence in the City's firefighters, police officers and lifeguards.

Remember: always watch your children and stay alert!

Last Friday, Crestwood Fire Department hosted students from the BJC BESt (Bringing Excellence to Students and Teachers) Healthcare Institute to visit the fire station.

BJC BESt identifies high-capacity high school students from underserved communities and introduces them to careers in healthcare with a four-week residential program at Washington University.

During their visit, the students toured the fire station and apparatus, met with Crestwood firefighters to learn about career pathways in fire and EMS, and participated in a hands-on practical skills activity.

The tour showcased passion upheld by Crestwood Fire Department with their work and dedication, inspiring students to get involved.

🌡️ Excessive Heat Reminder from the Crestwood Fire Department ☀️

With dangerously high temperatures expected over the next several days, please take steps to protect yourself and those around you.

✅ Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
✅ Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
✅ Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
✅ Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes.

💙 Please take a few moments to check on your neighbors, especially older adults, individuals with medical conditions, and anyone who may not have access to air conditioning. A simple phone call or knock on the door can make a big difference.

🐾 Don't forget about your pets! Make sure they have plenty of fresh water, access to shade or air conditioning, and avoid walking them on hot pavement, which can burn their paws.

🏢 If you or someone you know needs relief from the heat, cooling centers are available throughout St. Louis County.

👀💦 Water Safety Tip #1: Watch Kids, Not Your Phone

As families spend more time at pools, lakes and water parks this summer, our Department is sharing weekly water safety reminders to help everyone enjoy the season safely. Our first tip is also the most important:

👀 Active supervision saves lives.
When children are in or near water:
✅ Stay within arm's reach of young children.
✅ Keep your eyes on the water at all times.
✅ Put away phones and avoid other distractions.
✅ Never rely on another child to watch a younger child.

If a child is missing, check the water first. Seconds count.

A fun day around the water starts with staying alert and staying present.

🚒 During last week's Board of Aldermen meeting, we officially welcomed Devin Randall to the department during his swearing-in and badge-pinning ceremony.

While Devin has already been serving the Crestwood community as a paramedic, the ceremony marks an important milestone as he takes the oath of office and receives his department badge, a symbol of the honor, responsibility and commitment that come with serving our residents.

👏 Please join us in congratulating Devin on this special milestone. We are proud to have him on the Crestwood team and look forward to his continued service to our community!

🚒 Last week, our team, along with Cedar Hill Fire Department and others, participated in drafting operations training through the Tri-County Training Consortium.

Drafting allows firefighters to establish a water supply from lakes, ponds and other natural water sources when hydrants are unavailable. Hands-on training like this helps keep our crews prepared for a wide range of emergency situations.
