Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated the unfortunate issues with the air-conditioning system at Crete Elementary.

We are pleased to share that we have identified and resolved the problem. Building conditions have been restored to an appropriate level for students and staff, and Crete Elementary will reopen on Friday, September 4, 2026.

We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout this process. The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority.

Interested in Serving the ‘U’? ⭐ Crete-Monee School District 201-U community members interested in serving on the Board of Education can now begin the process of becoming a candidate for the April 6, 2027 school board election. 🗳️

Four board seats will be filled, representing Districts 1, 2, 4, and 5. Each seat carries a four-year term expiring in April 2031.

Balmoral Elementary welcomed the CMHS Warriors last week to help kick off the new school year! Our students loved watching an incredible Michael Jackson-themed performance by the marching band, color guard, and dance team. Important: Crete Elementary Closed Thursday, September 3 Due to A/C Conditions

Due to the current air-conditioning conditions at Crete Elementary and our inability to ensure appropriate building conditions for students and staff throughout the school day, Crete Elementary will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, 2026.

This decision was made after reviewing current building conditions, the status of the air conditioning system, anticipated temperatures, and our ability to safely maintain appropriate conditions throughout the instructional day.

A building cooling plan was implemented today while Facilities continued to assess and address the air-conditioning concerns. After reviewing the current conditions and the remaining work, we have determined that closing the building tomorrow is the appropriate course of action.

This closure applies only to Crete Elementary. All other Crete-Monee School District 201-U schools and programs will remain open and operate on their regular schedules.
