Fire danger is very high again today, April 23, 2026, and burn permits have been suspended statewide where the DNR has fire protection responsibility.

Please avoid all burning until conditions improve.

Although the state received significant rainfall last week, the grasses and leaf litter on the ground dry out extremely quickly. Firefighters refer to this vegetation as "1-hour fuels" – in part, because they can dry out in about an hour after a rain event.

Fire can spready very quickly in 1-hour fuels with gusty winds and low relative humidity. In addition, northwest Wisconsin is still experiencing abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions.

Check any recent burns for smoldering embers and make sure they are cold as fires have the potential to rekindle and escape today with increasing winds. Moderating conditions are expected tonight with rain moving in.

Twin Bridge Recycle Center hours are changing for Sundays!

Effective May 01, 2026
Hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Sunday, all year

We will also be closed on Easter Sundays from now on.

Real Estate Property Taxes and Pet Licenses are due by January 31, 2026

Payments accepted are check and credit/debit cards (no cash)
Please make check out for the correct amount for correct parcel

The Town of Stephenson accepts credit/debit card payments for Real Estate Property Taxes only (There will be a 2.95% convenience charge)

Pet Licenses are due with property taxes on their own check
Sorry … we cannot accept 1 check for both property taxes and pet licenses

Lottery Credit

Are you receiving this credit on your tax bill?

Qualifications:

Available on one permanent residence only … not 2nd homes
Must be living there since January 1st of current year
Must be a Wisconsin resident

If you move from one qualified home to a new full-time home … you must end the 1st home and apply for your new home

During parts of the year, you may apply for Late Lottery Credit

In order to receive this credit … you must apply for it with WI DOR

The lottery and gaming credit is a credit that provides direct property tax relief to qualifying taxpayers on their property tax bills. Lottery proceeds are paid into a separate segregated state fund. The lottery credit is displayed on tax bills as a reduction of property taxes due.

It's official!

We're proud to announce the news, our nephew Sam Ermis is officially taking over Rene's Dining Room! He's the 4th generation in the family and we couldn't be more proud! He plans to keep most everything the same with the exception of the salad and soup bar returning.

Rick and I have been extremely BLESSED here for many years! We have grown up ( a little) and raised a family, and formed amazing friendships. So many of our employees & customers have become an extended family, and we will forever be grateful!
