🔥 Stay Informed This Wildfire Season 🔥

As we move into wildfire season, Crockett-Carquinez Fire encourages all residents to take a few simple steps now to ensure you receive timely and accurate emergency information when it matters most.

1. Download Watch Duty
Watch Duty provides real-time wildfire information, including fire locations, evacuation warnings, evacuation orders, and firefighting activity. It is one of the fastest ways to stay informed about wildfire incidents affecting our area.

2. Download PulsePoint Foundation
PulsePoint allows you to view emergency incidents that our department and neighboring agencies are responding to in real time. It’s a great tool for staying aware of significant emergency activity in your community.

3. Follow Us on Social Media
We regularly share important updates, safety information, emergency notifications, community events, and preparedness tips on our official social media channels:

* Facebook
* X (formerly Twitter)
* Instagram

Following our accounts ensures you receive information directly from your local fire department.

4. Know Your Evacuation Zone
Every resident should know their evacuation zone before an emergency occurs. Visit Contra Costa County Community Warning System (CWS) and familiarize yourself with your designated zone. During an emergency, evacuation warnings and orders are often issued by zone, making this information critical for a safe and timely response.

Preparedness Starts Before the Emergency
Taking a few minutes today to download these tools, follow trusted information sources, and identify your evacuation zone can make a significant difference during a wildfire or other emergency.

Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe.

A message from Chief Colombo:

Dear Residents of Crockett and Port Costa,

Your fire department needs your help to ensure we can continue serving our communities as safely and effectively as possible. There are three important actions you can take today that will make a significant difference.

➡️ First, begin preparing your property for fire season. Start with your roof and gutters, removing leaves, pine needles, and other flammable debris. Then work your way down around your home, creating and maintaining defensible space by reducing combustible vegetation and materials.

➡️ Second, make sure your address is clearly visible from the roadway. Visible address numbers help first responders locate those in need quickly when every second matters. Throughout our district, we continue to encounter homes, apartments, and other occupied structures that are difficult to identify because addresses are missing, obscured, or not visible from the street.

➡️ Third, please be mindful of how and where vehicles are parked. Many streets in Crockett and Port Costa were built when vehicles were smaller and traffic was lighter. Today, some streets are so narrow that fire engines and ambulances can barely pass through, while others become impassable when vehicles are parked too far from the curb. Just this week, our crews responding to a medical emergency on Del Mar Circle had to stop and carefully maneuver around parked vehicles before reaching the patient. Whenever possible, please park no more than 18 inches from the curb and avoid blocking access routes for emergency vehicles.

As small communities, we depend on one another to do our part for the safety and well-being of our neighbors. By preparing your property, clearly marking your address, and parking responsibly, you help us respond more quickly, safely, and effectively when emergencies occur.

Thank you for your partnership and support.

Sincerely,

Chief Dean Colombo
Crockett-Carquinez Fire Protection District

CCCFD and Cal Fire Chief Officers recently met and toured the fire district to discuss wildfire response plans. Interagency cooperation and coordination is imperative for life and property protection. Now is the time to cut your weeds and grasses to 4” or less in height. Clearance around structures of 30’ to 100’ provides defensible space for fire crews to operate.
