Following the end of World War I and the creation of the American Legion, a local American Legion Post was established
in Crockett, California in 1920. In an effort to honor those who served and those who lost their lives, the Contra Costa
County Board of Supervisors voted in 1922 to construct a memorial in every town within the county that had an American
Legion Post. The contract for the construction of Crockett’s Memorial Hall was approved in 1924 and the building was
dedicated in 1925.

The Memorial Hall is located at Pomona and Alexander at the east end of Crockett.

Crockett Community Services District (CCSD) Director Kris Vickers resigned from the District Board on September 23, 2015.

In accordance with Government Code Section 1780, the District will formally accept the resignation at the next Board meeting on October 28.

The Board will announce the vacancy on October 28 and will consider filling the vacancy either by appointment or by calling for an election. Historically, after a resignation, the District has chosen to advertise for applicants and conducted interviews to appoint the replacement Director until the next general district election which is November 2016. Anyone interested in the soon-to-be open Board seat is encouraged to attend the October 28 Board meeting, visit our website at www.town.crockett.ca.us, and review the District Board minutes to get a sense of the responsibilities of a director.

The District provides certain municipal services for the unincorporated towns of Crockett and Port Costa, California; Crockett sanitary sewer services, Port Costa sanitary sewer services, Recreation services, and limited Maintenance services. The CCSD is an independent special district, and although is not a function of the state, the state provides critical oversight to special district operations. Special districts must submit annual financial reports to the State Controller and must also follow state laws pertaining to public meetings, bonded debt, record keeping and elections. The Board of Directors establishes the polices for the operation of the District and provides for the implementation of those policies.

Tonight, EBMUD will repair a leak that was found on an aqueduct that crosses the city of Crockett. This pipeline will be shut down so crews can repair the leak. The 24-inch steel pipeline will be shut down beginning at 6 pm. The work is expected to be complete by Wednesday morning.

To prepare for the repair, EBMUD has filled local reservoirs to provide water service to our residential Crockett customers while this pipeline is shut down. Residential customers in Crockett will be served by the local reservoirs and should not experience any disruption in water service tonight except for a possible drop in pressure.

Though we expect no outages to customers tonight, we ask Crockett residents to conserve water while crews complete this critical repair work. Updates, will be posted at www.ebmud.com when available. Click on Current Water Outages on the right side of the page.
