National Night Out
Cromwell will be hosting National Night Out for the communities of Wright and Cromwell. It will be at the Cromwell Pavilion on August 4, 2026 from 5:30-7:00 PM. Food and drinks will be provided. Bring your friends, appetite and community spirit to enjoy an evening with your neighbors. There will be a drawing for a Pickleball set donated by the City Council.
Area Emergency Services will be on hand--along with kid's entertainment.
Carlton County Posse will be at the event.

Residents should have received their primary mail in ballots. Please choose either Democrat OR Republican. If you fill out both columns your ballot will be invalid. On the back of the ballot are the nonpartisan candidates for sheriff. You may vote for one of the candidates. FOLLOW THE INCLUDED INSTRUCTIONS and mail it back.

New residents can register at the Historic Court House in downtown Carlton. You will need a valid ID. One can also register or update a registration by going to mnvotes.gov. It is an instructive and educational website for information on voting.

Carlton County Master Gardener Voluteer Program is hosting a Garden Tour and Workshop on July 21, 2026 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Cromwell Pavilion.
Wander through four lovely, healing, effective and productive Cromwell area gardens. The tour features a pollinator garden, a healing garden, a newly developed rain garden and an extensive food garden. Each site will share their expertise in design and growing suggestions. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions.

Pavement preservation project on Highway 73 start June 24

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be starting pavement preservation sealcoat work on Highway 73 south of Cromwell will take place Wednesday, June 24 through Friday, June 26. Motorists can expect single lane traffic with flagging operations and a pilot car.
Permanent pavement markings will be placed two weeks later during the week of July 6.

New Dates for Candidate Filing:

For November's elections in the City of Cromwell, voters will be voting for a new Mayor. The City will also have two candidates for City Council. The dates for filing have been move up a few weeks to:
July 14, 2026 through July 28, 2026.

Highway 2 construction between Midway Road and Highway 194 starts June 1
DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be starting construction on Highway 2 between Midway Road and Highway 194 on Monday, June 1. This project will resurface 8.35 miles of Highway 2 and require Highway 2 to be detoured on Highway 194 to Midway Road.
Through traffic will not be able to travel on Highway 2 starting on June 1. Access will be maintained for businesses and residences via connecting side roads. The detour is expected to be in place through mid-September.

Work zone safety tips:
• Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
• Drive undistracted. Avoid using phones, mobile devices, adjusting the radio – even eating – while in work zones.
• Move over. Give workers room to safely complete their work.
• Be patient. Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
• Avoid making unnecessary lane changes.
• Never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
• Expect work zones to constantly change. Day to day you could experience lane shifts, closures, narrower lanes, moving workers and vehicles.
