The Cromwell Riverport Festival returns to Pierson Park September 24–26, bringing the community together for a weekend filled with music, food, carnival rides, activities, local vendors and plenty of opportunities to make memories with family and friends. CROMWELL, CT. (WFSB) - A smoke shop employee faces multiple charges after Cromwell police and the Cromwell Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the sale of illegal fireworks at a local business.

The investigation centered on Cloud World Smoke Shop on Shunpike Road. Officers searched the store and an employee’s vehicle, seizing several items as evidence.

Investigators recovered the following during the search:

Five different types of illegal fireworks
1,756 small nitrous oxide canisters
35 large nitrous oxide canisters
Several pounds of ma*****na packaged for sale
Packaging material
$805.00 cash

27-year-old Marawan Abdelmegid was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell a Cannabis Product, Sale of Restricted Substances and Illegal Possession/Sale of Fireworks. He is being held on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday if his bond is not posted.

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection and the Cromwell Health Department also assisted in the investigation.
