What happens to your compost bags after you place them in your garbage receptacle? They go on a short ride to the Transfer Station or Incinerator where the new AI robotic arms sort through the household garbage and pluck out the green compost bags to be sent to the Compost Facility!

Composting is as easy as collecting your food scraps in our designated bags, tying the bag closed with a knot, and tossing it in your garbage collection container for your waste hauler to pick up! Make sure you leave the designated food scrap bag loose from other bags.
If you haul your waste to the Transfer Station or Incinerator, please reach out for the designated drop off spots.

The first step to composting your food scraps is to pick up your FREE starter kit! Kits can be collected at the Crookston Transfer Station or the Fosston Incinerator/Recycling Center. Included in your free kit is 1 roll of 30 bags which should last the average family half a year as well as a couple of pamphlets to get you going in the right direction. Call Environmental Services or stop by to get signed up today!
