Residential Spring Cleanup will be held May 18th - May 22nd
Residential Spring Cleanup will be held May 18th-22nd on your regularly scheduled Street Maintenance Day.

Residential Street Maintenance days follow the below schedule:
- Monday- District 4 (Point East of Bygland)
- Tuesday- District 5 (Point West of Bygland)
- Wednesday- District 2 (North of Highway 2, South of 17th Street NW)
- Thursday- District 1 (North of 17th Street NW)
- Friday- District 3 (South of Highway 2, North of River)

A Hazardous Waste & Electronic Drop Off Event is scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the East Grand Forks Public Works Building located at 1001 2nd Street NE.

The Optimist Club held their annual "Respect for Law" luncheon today (May 13, 2026). At this luncheon they recognize officers from our region who exemplify the Optimist ideal of being a "Friend of Youth". The Optimist Club also selects an "Officer of the Year" and this year Cpl. Nick Gunderson of the EGFPD received this award. Cpl. Gunderson has been the SRO in EGF since 2015 and does a fantastic job working with the youth of our community! Congratulations Cpl. Gunderson and thank you Optimist Club! Cpl. Gunderson is pictured with retired Grand Forks County Sheriff Bob Rost of the Optimist Club.

Polk County Sheriff's Office/Emergency Management participated in today’s memorial service at the Northern Valley Law Enforcement Memorial as a part of Police Week.

The Sheriff’s Department was joined by Grand Forks Police Department Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office East Grand Forks Police Department U.S. Customs and Border Protection University of North Dakota Police Department Crookston Police Department North Dakota Highway Patrol Minnesota State Patrol Thief River Falls Police Department, Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Department, Norman County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Marshals, Traill County Sheriff’s Department, and U.S. Air Force service members honoring those who died in the line of duty.

‼️ Confirmed measles case in Polk County, MN ‼️

This is the first case confirmed in Polk County, MN in 2026. If potential exposures are identified, individuals would be notified directly.

Measles is caused by a highly contagious virus that spreads through the air when people who have it breathe, cough, or sneeze. The virus can remain in the air for up to two hours after a person with measles leaves the area.

🚨 Symptoms may include:
• Fever
• Cough
• Runny nose
• Watery eyes
• Rash that typically spreads from the head to the rest of the body
The measles rash usually appears two to three days after the fever begins.
