As we get closer to the General Election in November, please remember the following requirements for campaign signs within the City of Crookston:

▪️ Campaign signs must be placed on private property with the property owner’s permission
▪️ Signs may not be placed within a public right-of-way or easement
▪️ Signs may not obstruct motorists’ visibility or interfere with traffic signs or signals
▪️ Signs may not resemble official government or traffic-control signs
▪️ Flashing signs, roof signs, and signs that operate with sound are prohibited
▪️ All signs must be safely installed and properly maintained
▪️ No signs can be placed on city-owned property

Under Minnesota Statute § 211B.045, campaign and other noncommercial signs of any size and in any number may be displayed from June 26 through November 13, 2026. Other City requirements relating to sign placement, construction, and public safety remain in effect.

The residents along the N. Front St project can now use their water and sewer. Public Works will be back tomorrow, August 26th, for back filling.

N. Front Street Sewer Repair Update

Crookston Public Works continues to work on the emergency sanitary sewer repair on N. Front St. between Grant St. and Sheridan St.

Due to stabilization concerns and more extensive sewer damage than originally anticipated, crews completed the excavation and preparation work Monday, with the damaged sewer pipe being replaced today, Tuesday, August 25.

Affected residents are asked to continue avoiding water and sanitary sewer use until the repair is complete and Public Works gives the all-clear.

We apologize for the extended inconvenience and appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation while our crews work to complete the repair safely.

With the first day of school fast approaching. Minnesota law on stopping for school buses has changed. You must now stop at least 20 feet from the bus whenever the red lights are flashing. The stop arm does not have to be extended. This update closes a loophole where drivers previously may have tried to “beat the arm” when passing a bus — a risky move that puts children in danger.

Slowing down and adding that extra caution will help make sure every child can travel to and from school safely.

🚧Water Service Notice

The Water Department is currently completing a service line repair on South Ash Street. As part of this repair, some residents in the Bessie Street and Hurlbut Street areas may experience little to no water service for the next couple of hours.

We apologize that an earlier notice was not available and appreciate everyone’s patience while our crew works to complete the repair and restore normal water service as quickly as possible.
