I believe this profound question, when truly analyzed, will show us the importance and broad reach a public school has on its' community.

Last night was a refreshing reminder that many individuals still believe in Crosby kids. The Crosby Education Foundation once again stepped up and put on a great event to raise money, supporting the classrooms, teachers and kids of Crosby. Their countless hours and commitment to Crosby deserve a HUGE Thank You! I must also say, there are different staples in this community and you see them all throughout the year supporting different organizations and events. The ones I speak of don't do it for notoriety. They do it out of love, out of a commitment to service, a commitment to community, a desire to lead by example and a devotion to just leave a place better than they found it. I will commit to showing more gratitude to these individuals moving forward. First up, Thank You Dan Meaux and Jennifer Meaux for all you do for the Crosby Education Foundation, CISD and for Crosby. You are pillars to Crosby.

The proof and reality of the 80/20 rule was shown once again. However, I think that rule is antiquated and should be revised to the 98/2 rule. This year, the Crosby Board had 4 positions open for a new term to be voted on in November. With as many people who hop on social media sites and complain, you would have thought ATLEAST one person would have filed to run as a new board member. Well, the reality is NO. Proof, individuals would rather sit behind a keyboard, complain, and tear down this district with false statements rather than to use their talents and skills to make a difference and to propel this district forward. I am proud of the team of individuals who serve as board members for this district. We come from many backgrounds and carry knowledge in an array of areas which allows us to have meaningful dialogue and conversations. Far from perfect but this team commits so much time to truly evaluating items in front of us and putting kids first. Both today and for tomorrow. Thank you to all of my current colleagues for showing up and putting Crosby first as well as Mrs. Killion for stepping up to devote the next four years of service to Crosby ISD as a board member.

Just a moment to stop and say Thank You to all of the individuals who stepped up and served on the Long Range Planning Committee this past year for Crosby ISD. I appreciate the time you spent evaluating the districts state and the forethought you put in for the future of Crosby ISD facilities and its students. Many will sit and complain while only a small percentage actually step up to be a part of the solution. Thank you again for the time and effort you put forth for this community, district and its students.

Tomorrow, June 4, 2026, will be the first Thursday of this great program, providing nutritious meal kits for children throughout the summer. We encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity and help spread the word throughout our community.

There has been a manipulated twist devised by some in the community to provide false information and I need to take a moment to clear that up with factual information. The district DID NOT absorb (lose) $500,000 for unpaid meals this year. It has absorbed approximately $553,000 over the last 4 school years. Though even an unacceptable amount in my opinion, the district as of May 1, has absorbed $183,822.50 in courtesy meals provided at no charge to students. This cost was due to a policy that was in place which allowed students to go up to 10 meals before being given an alternate meal. Your board as of May 18th, adopted a new policy to assist in curtailing these enormous expenses and has now decreased the charge limits after a negative balance is initiated. After 2 days or 4 meals, a student will then receive an alternate meal. The issue here is not the district, but that of families and students who choose to manipulate and take advantage of the system. We are not talking about free or reduced meals for families. This is students knowingly going through a line to purchase food and not paying for it. There is a slight tolerance to allow parents to add funds to their account but for the most part, this is knowingly not replenishing an account or paying for purchased food.

I had no clue ART was so big in our schools. Attended the 1st annual Art Show tonight and it did not disappoint. Amazing work kiddos, you are so talented!

I was blessed this afternoon with an outstanding performance by our Crosby Cougar Stars. They put on their annual Spring Show and it was a pure display of beauty, elegance and grace. Ok, a little sass was mixed in their too. We have so many extremely talented young ladies and I want to give a huge thank you to Mrs. Godoy for establishing a culture and setting that will launch these young ladies into success.

In case you missed it, at the board meeting this past Monday, the board was presented with and voted for an early redemption and defeasance of bonds. The district was able to pay down $4,935,000 of debt and SAVE the taxpayers $3,407,390 in interest. Just another example of the incredible fiscal responsibility of our Aministration and Finance department.
