On August 22, 2026 at approximately 7:03 PM, Crosbyton PD responded to the 200 block of North Ashshire regarding the proactive observation of black smoke.

Upon arrival, the officer discovered that the fire had been started by an individual. The individual was detained and taken into custody. The Crosbyton Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

Thankfully, the fire was extinguished, and we want to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all of the first responders who worked together to handle the situation and keep our community safe.

Thank you to Crosbyton Fire Department, the Sheriff’s Office and other first responders on scene for your service and quick response.

We are having issues with our phones and internet at City Hall. They are intermittently going in and out if service.

This means that if you call, we may not be able to answer and if you come to pay a utility bill with a credit/debit card, it may not be working.

We are working to get this remedied as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Crosbyton Police Department wants to address recent concerns regarding a call involving a check subject over the weekend.
Despite information recently posted on social media, there is no active shooter in the City of Crosbyton.
The incident remains under investigation, and officers are continuing to follow up on all available information.
We understand the concern this situation has caused in our community and want to reassure the public that there is no known ongoing threat at this time.
We encourage residents to rely on official sources for accurate information and updates. If anyone has information related to this incident, please contact the Crosbyton Police Department.

🚔 Joint Drug Investigation Results in Arrest and Seizure of Illegal Narcotics

Today, the Crosbyton Police Department, Crosby County Sheriff's Office, and Texas Department Of Public Safety conducted a joint operation that resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illegal narcotics, a gun, and other paraphernalia.

During the investigation, officers observed suspected illegal drugs in plain view on the front porch of a residence. That observation established probable cause to obtain a search warrant for the residence, where additional suspected dangerous drugs and evidence related to illegal drug activity were located and seized.

This successful operation highlights the continued partnership between the Crosbyton Police Department and the Crosby County Sheriff's Office in their commitment to combating illegal drug activity and protecting the citizens of Crosby County.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges or arrests may be possible. All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
