Ms. Shauna’s class has been studying nursery rhymes over the last two weeks and had some fun wrapping up this engaging unit with activities centered around many of our favorites. Bringing these nursery rhymes to life in their classroom builds the connections for concrete learning. Learning today, to lead the way. 😉

It’s no exaggeration that ending second grade’s Tall Tale unit was pretty sweet with a flap jack breakfast! Our second grade students strengthened their skills in vocabulary, story elements, and comprehension all while enjoying tales of Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill, and John Henry.

🐭🦁 City Mouse, Country Mouse & The Lion and the Mouse Culminating Day! 🧀

The rain may have moved our obstacle course indoors today, but it definitely didn’t stop the fun! We started as little mice crawling through a tiny “mouse hole” into the BIG CITY, weaving through skyscrapers before discovering a lion trapped and crying for help. Just like in our story, our little mice came to the rescue by “gnawing” through the ropes with their safety scissors! 🦁✂️

Then it was off to the country! Students sorted their City & Country vocabulary picture cards, carried a chicken egg carefully on a spoon 🥚, found the BIG CHEESE 🧀, and finished by choosing a puppet to either ROAR like a lion or SQUEAK like a mouse! 🦁🐭 We even timed our obstacle course and crowned a boy and girl winner with a cheese squishy!

We ended our adventure by choosing Team City or Team Country for a class picture and, of course, enjoying some cheese for snack. And what kind of mouse comes to school without a chocolate chip cookie?! 🍪😂

A little “monsoon” may have changed our plans, but it sure didn’t ruin them! Such a FUN way to wrap up The Lion and the Mouse and City Mouse, Country Mouse! ❤️🐭🦁

Our teachers and paras make learning fun here at KCS. We have been exploring numbers, tackling letters, building words, rhyming, and reading fables to learn valuable life lessons. We are off to a great start!
