Cross Plains Police Department Hello Friends! Welcome to the Cross Plains Police Department's (CPPD) page. Non-emergency calls should be made to 608-798-4100 and follow the prompts.

The Mission of the Cross Plains Police Department is to advance the highest levels of public safety, trust, and professionalism by strengthening community partnerships through fair and impartial policing while fostering employee wellness and growth. It is our intention to provide you an online community police presence with our department and aid in community outreach and education. Please do not

use our page to report a crime or to request an officer. In the case of an emergency, call 9-1-1. Cross Plains Police Department is made up of a Chief, Lieutenant/Detective, four Patrol Officers, and an Administrative Assistant. We try to maintain round the clock staffing, 24/7. Due to training, illness, training, vacation, and days off (yes, even our officers need time away from the job); there may be periods of time where an officer is not readily available. Messages can be left for officers. To accomplish the Mission of the Cross Plains Police Department we hold these core values at the HEART of our service. Honor: We believe in serving our community with honesty, fairness, and integrity, while holding ourselves accountable always. Excellence: We believe in personal and professional excellence, dedication to duty, and humble service to others. Adaptability: We believe in being flexible, not only to the changing social climate and evolving technologies but to individual situations as they unfold. Respect: We believe in seeing the best in people and focusing on their abilities, qualities, and strengths, while having due regard for their feelings, wishes, rights, and traditions. Teamwork: We believe in cooperation, collaboration, and unity among ourselves, members of the community, and all village departments to achieve common goals. Disclaimer

BREAKING NEWS

Local police responded to reports of an unlicensed beverage operation in the neighborhood today.

Upon arrival, officers discovered suspects, ages 5-10, selling lemonade without a business degree, tax attorney, or corporate board approval.

After a brief investigation, the officers purchased two cups, left a generous tip, and declared the lemonade “too good to shut down.”

No arrests were made, although one suspect was seen attempting to evade questioning on a scooter.

The lemonade cartel remains at large

During National Police Week, we pause to honor the brave men and women in law enforcement who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. We also recognize the dedication of the officers who continue to serve each day with courage, integrity, and compassion.

Policing is more than a profession it is a commitment to protecting others, often during difficult and challenging moments. This week, we especially remember the families of fallen officers and thank them for their strength and sacrifice.

To our community: thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust. Strong communities are built when citizens and law enforcement work together with respect and understanding.

Please join us this week in remembering those we have lost and supporting those who continue to serve.

Update: Thank you!! The owners have been located and our furry friend is back home!!

This cat was found wandering around Glaciers Edge Sq acting like it pays taxes here. We checked for a microchip, but apparently this furry outlaw either forgot to register or is living off the grid.

If this is your cat — or if you know the human servant it belongs to — please call us at the police department at (608) 798-4100 with identifying details. The suspect is currently safe at the Pet Care Clinic and accepting payment in treats and attention.

Please share so we can reunite this little escape artist with its people!

A little bump in the road turned into a good reminder for all of us…

Our officers recently helped out after a bicycle crash, and we’re happy to report the rider is doing okay—just a few bumps and bruises. To help keep future rides safer, we were glad to pass along a new helmet before they got back on the road.

Moments like this are why we love serving this community—looking out for one another, on and off the road.

Wishing everyone safe and happy rides out there. And if you’ve got a helmet, it’s always a good day to wear it.

Our officers have recovered the following items at Zander Park

One (1) blanket — suspiciously cozy, found minding its own business but clearly up to something.

One (1) ring — small, shiny, and refusing to explain how it ended up where it did. No alibi. Very suspicious.

Both items are currently being held for questioning (the blanket has been wrapped up in the investigation, the ring is keeping things… well… tight-lipped).

If these items belong to you, please contact the department and be prepared to:

✔️ Properly identify them
✔️ Explain how they came to be separated from you

We had a great time connecting with the community at Trout Days in Cross Plains this weekend!

It was wonderful to see so many families and visitors out enjoying the event—from fishing and local vendors to the live music throughout the day. Events like this are a great reminder of how strong and supportive our community is.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, vendors, and bands for putting together such a well-run and enjoyable event. We also appreciate everyone who stopped by to say hello—we’re always glad to meet and engage with the people we serve.

We’re already looking forward to next year. Stay safe!!
