The Rosemary Garfoot Public Library serves the community through provision of materials and services designed to create a community of life-long learners. The library provides access to materials in a variety of formats to meet the educational, recreational and information needs of the citizens in a manner reflective of the resource base. The Rosemary Garfoot Public Library provides free and open

access to information and the universe of ideas to a diverse and inclusive community. By connecting people to the transformative power of knowledge, the library advances literacy, guides life-long learning and inspires curiosity and creativity. The library encourages activities that promote stewardship of our environment through promotion of the facility as a living laboratory, provision of environmental and ecological collections, and development of environmentally inspired practices, programs and workshops. To fulfill this mission, the library promotes an interest in reading by providing leisure reading and other materials for persons of all ages. The library encourages self-development through provision of access to information resources in a variety of formats and through access to a diverse selection of technologies. The library serves the community by providing answers to their informational needs and serves the citizens by providing exceptional customer service.

Check out our latest art installation, now up in the library lobby! A group of amazing local artists contributed to this display—many of whom meet here at the library to create their masterpieces! Visit the library this fall to see a sampling of paintings, stitchings, paper folding crafts, and more!

The local Arts and Crafts Club utilizes meeting space at both the library and Northwest Dane Senior Services on varying Monday afternoons throughout the month. The Fiber Arts Group is a library-sponsored program that meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 1:30PM. Anyone looking to create more is welcome to attend!

Our Driftless Passport program has officially started for the year! Pick up your passport soon and start exploring nature around the Driftless Area!

New this year, we've added the three participating libraries (ourselves, Black Earth Public Library, and Mazomanie Free Library) as stops to the passport, meaning you can check off a visit just by heading to the library to get your passport!

Mahjong Meet-Ups have returned to the library on Wednesdays! Join us from 1:30 to 3:30PM each week from now through September to play the game and enjoy socializing with others. These sessions are beginner friendly! An instructor will be available to teach new players how the game works. Join us!

Last call for summer reading sheets!

If you participated in our Adult or Kid's Summer Reading Challenge this year, this is your last chance to turn your sheets in and receive your prizes. Kids will have the opportunity to pick out a free book from an online catalog. Adults will receive raffle tickets to enter into one of 4 different gift card drawings to nearby businesses. All sheets are due by Friday, August 7! Raffle gift card winners will be notified early next week.

Don't forget our Summer Reading Grand Finale Pool Party is tomorrow night at 6PM! Head to the Municipal Pool for free Culver's custard and a night of swimming. All are welcome!

There is a chance of rain in the forecast. In the event the pool can't open due to severe weather, we'll be hosting a "Library After Hours" Family Movie Night in the Community Room instead (free custard still included!). Our website and social media will be updated with any weather-related changes.

Are you tired of waiting for popular titles with long hold lists? Remember to check out our Lucky Day collection to see if you can snag the latest bestseller with no wait time! We're constantly adding new and in-demand titles to this collection, especially when we notice the waiting lists on these items getting longer and longer. This week, we've added recent favorites like Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke (currently over 1600 holds system-wide), Whistler by Ann Patchett (over 1200 holds), Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (over 700 holds) and The Deal by Elle Kennedy (over 350 holds), among many others.

What is the Lucky Day collection? This collection features additional copies of new and popular titles. Unlike the our other copies of these books, which get sent around the library system as people place them on hold, these items are marked with a special status in our catalog so that they can't be used to fulfill holds. Instead, they remain on the shelf for walk-in browsing, and it's your 'Lucky Day' if you come in and see a book you've had your eye on available! Due to their high demand, these items only check out for 2 weeks at a time and can't be renewed—but there's almost always something new to check out!
