A glimpse into summers gone by. ๐Ÿ“ธ

These incredible historic photographs capture the heart of Cumberland Mountain State Parkโ€”a place where families gathered, swimmers leapt from diving platforms, friends shared watermelon on the shore, and lifelong memories were made.

For generations, this park has been more than a destinationโ€”itโ€™s been part of the story of Crossville and Cumberland County.

Some places never lose their magic.

most people drive right past this county on their way to the smokiesโ€ฆ

but theyโ€™re missing some of tennesseeโ€™s best-kept secrets.

just 90 minutes east of nashville, cumberland county is packed with unreal views, hidden waterfalls, unique stays, incredible food and way less traffic than the usual weekend destinations.

from standing above the largest sinkhole in north america at black mountain overlook, to swimming beneath the 110-foot drop at ozone falls, this is the kind of place that makes you wonder why you havenโ€™t been here yet.

you can sleep on a farm with yaks, drink coffee alongside goats, catch a show at one of americaโ€™s best rural theaters, eat ice cream made from milk straight from the dairy farm and play a week of golf without repeating a hole.

and this is only the beginningโ€ฆ

comment CUMBERLAND COUNTY and weโ€™ll send you the full guide to planning the perfect weekend here.

We're called the Golf Capital of Tennessee. Here's why that's not just marketing. โ›ณ

Most towns our size are lucky to have one golf course. Crossville has nine โ€” all within a short drive of each other, all sitting at 2,000 feet where the summer air actually moves.

Plateau elevation changes you won't find in Middle Tennessee. And tee times you can actually book on a weekend.

Swipe to see what 2,000 feet looks like from the tee box. ๐Ÿ‘€

We're 90 minutes from Nashville โ€” close enough that a buddies trip doesn't have to burn a vacation day.

Which course is your favorite? Settle it in the comments. ๐Ÿ‘‡

On July 4, 2026 our country will celebrate its 250th anniversary. On July 8, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read aloud to the public for the very first time.

In honor of that first public reading, join us on the courthouse steps Wednesday, July 8 at 6:00 pm for a reading of the declaration in its entirety by Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster.

The Upper Cumberland Development District is asking members of our community to shoot short video clips on their smartphones (10 seconds max) reading the declaration, and share the content with UCDD in order for a video time capsule to be created of the Upper Cumberland, the finished video will then be shared with anyone who participated. Please send videos to [email protected].
