Day three of the Hartford Fair is in the books. Mother Nature didn’t cooperate very well as rain fell pretty much all day. Good thing with that was the heat was very enjoyable. The events form the day were mostly animals being showed in barns.
The evening grandstand event did take place starting much later than normal and to a crowd that was small but very pleased to show their support to the participants
Today at the fair is continued animal showings and in the grandstand is Monster Truck show.

Day 2 at the Hartford Fair is in full swing! 🎡🚒

Our crew is on-site and ready to keep everyone safe, happy, and hydrated today. Here is what we’re up to around the fairgrounds:

🤝 Here to Help: Whether you need first aid, quick directions, help tracking down a lost item, or just a cool spot to check your pulse, look for our personnel or stop by the station on the grounds. We’re always here for you!

🌩️ Keeping an Eye on the Sky: Summer weather can change fast. Our team is actively monitoring radar for any severe weather or high heat conditions. If severe storms approach, listen closely to fairground announcements and follow guidance to seek shelter.

🚨 Free Goodies for the Kids: Stop by and say hi! We’re handing out junior firefighter hats, stickers, and safety materials for the kids while supplies last.

Day 1 at the Hartford Fair in the Books!🎪🚜🚒

What a fantastic start to fair week! Our crews had a busy and rewarding opening day yesterday keeping fairgoers safe and connecting with our community.

Here are a few highlights from Day 1:

Tractor Pull Coverage: Our personnel were trackside staffing the tractor pull to ensure a safe event for drivers and spectators alike.

Community & Kids Station: We loved meeting everyone who stopped by! We handed out drawstring backpacks, frisbees, fire helmets, and stickers.

Rescue Tours: Dozens of kids (and future firefighters!) stopped by to check out our Rescue truck, explore the equipment, and meet our crew.

Keeping You Safe: Our crews answered several calls for service throughout the day and evening.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat, grab some swag, or say hello. We’re looking forward to another great day at the fair today—come by and see us!

If you see Hartford Township Fire Department members operating equipment or driving vehicles marked with another department's name during the Hartford Fair, don’t be alarmed—it’s all part of our plan to keep everyone safe!

To make sure we have all the resources needed to cover the fairgrounds and respond quickly to any incident, several of our awesome neighboring departments have loaned us their specialized apparatus and equipment for the week.

🚨 3 DAYS UNTIL THE HARTFORD FAIR! 🚨

We’re getting excited for fair week! Here are a few quick updates and safety reminders from your local fire department as you prepare for the fun:

🚒 Fire Department On-Site Daily: Our crews will be present at the fairgrounds starting at 10:00 AM every day through the end of the fair to ensure a safe environment for all visitors, vendors, and livestock.

⚠️ Important Cooking & Safety Rule: To keep everyone and the grounds safe, cooking is strictly prohibited near structures, including under or directly adjacent to pop-up tents. Open flames, grills, and hot surfaces pose a major safety risk in high-density areas, so please plan accordingly!

🆘 In Case of Emergency: If you experience or witness an emergency while at the fair, please call 911 immediately. The 911 dispatchers are able to mark your location on our mapping software ensuring a quick response.

🚒 ANNUAL HOSE TESTING COMPLETE! 💦
If you recently saw hundreds of feet of fire hose laid out near Centerburg high school you were witnessing a critical piece of our safety operations—our annual hose testing!

We are pleased to share that this year’s service testing was completed with the help of Fire C.A.T. (Fire Hose Testing Specialists), a dedicated third-party service that comes in to rigorously inspect and pressure test every single section of hose on our apparatus.

Why is hose testing so important?
When our crew responds to an emergency, we rely on our hose lines to handle intense water pressure without failure. Over time, friction, heat, and wear can weaken materials. Professional testing ensures that when seconds count, our equipment delivers without missing a beat, keeping both our firefighters and community safe.

It’s Not Just a Best Practice—It’s the Law! 📜
Did you know that fire departments in Ohio are legally required to perform annual service testing on all in-service hose?

Under Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) Rule 4123:1-21-06 (D)(1), all in-service fire hose must undergo service pressure testing prior to initial use and at least annually thereafter (in accordance with NFPA safety standards).

🩺 TRAINING UPDATE: SHARPENING OUR LIFE-SAVING SKILLS 🫀

Last week, our department personnel gathered for hands-on, high-performance CPR training to refresh and sharpen our clinical skills for cardiac emergency calls.

During the training session, our firefighters and paramedics reviewed:

High-quality compression depth, rate, and recoil metrics

Seamless team dynamics during cardiac arrest scenarios

Advanced airway management and post-resuscitation care protocols

Integration of mechanical CPR devices and automated external defibrillators (AEDs)

Continuous training ensures that when seconds count, our crews are prepared to deliver the highest level of emergency medical care to our community.
