Happy Mother’s Day from the Hartford Library 🌹🌼

We have the joy of witnessing many mothers in our community who come in and read to their children, play weekly games of “spot it”, do crafts to connect with their young ones, and encourage creativity and curiosity in their children. Today we honor you and thank you moms, you are the center of your children’s world. Here is a poem to enjoy, and don’t forget we have books for almost all holidays! Including the book pictured, titled “Mama How Long Will You Love Me?” by Anna Pignataro

"What Mother Means"

"Mother" is such a simple word,
But to me there’s meaning seldom heard.
For everything I am today,
My mother’s love showed me the way.
I’ll love my mother all my days,
For enriching my life in so many ways.
She set me straight and then set me free,
And that’s what the word "mother" means to me.

Today is National Nurses Day! 🏥 If you’re a nurse, we thank you today for all your hard work and your heart to help people heal.

Have you thought about being a nurse when you grow up? Maybe try reading “I Want to Be a Nurse When I Grow Up” by Nurse Blake! 🥼

It’s all about a boy named Blake who gets to go on a school field trip to a hospital. He gets to experience all the hard work that nurses do, and all the different tasks they take care of. He becomes discouraged, being a nurse was a lot harder than he imagined. But one day when he gets to help a friend, he realizes helping people makes his heart feel good! ⛑️🩹
