Community Center Officially Named 'Crouch Event Center'

CROWLEY, Texas (Feb. 13, 2020) – The community center currently under construction at Bicentennial Park officially has a name.

On Thursday, Feb. 6, the Crowley City Council agreed to name the new facility the Crouch Event Center at Bicentennial Park.

“The Crouch family has been a valuable asset in our community for many, many years,” Crowley Mayor Billy Davis said. “We are grateful for their years of dedicated service in various civic capacities, and the impact they had in the bettering of our city and schools can still be felt today.”

Joe Walter Crouch Jr. was a dairy magnate not only in this area but in the state of Texas as well. In 1986, the Texas Dairy Heritage Foundation recognized the Crouch family for continuous dairy operations in Tarrant County for 100 years. He was also a charter member of the Crowley Area Chamber of Commerce and served as the organization’s first vice president.

Sue Crouch was a Crowley ISD trustee for 33 years, board member of the Crowley Area Chamber of Commerce and charter member of the Crowley Lions Club. She also regularly volunteered at the Crowley House of Hope and the Crowley Public Library. An elementary school in Crowley ISD bears her name.

“My brothers and I are humbled by this recognition,” said Karen Crouch, daughter of Sue and Joe Crouch. “Our parents loved Crowley and loved serving their community. I know they would be deeply honored by this dedication.”

The Crouch Event Center, located at 900 E. Glendale, adjacent to what was once the Crouch Dairy Farm, is set to open May 1, and it will have meeting rooms, restrooms and a kitchen. It can be rented out for parties, meetings or other gatherings, and it will also be utilized by the city when it hosts events in the park, like the Celebration of Freedom.

FYI, these are the requirements for a Silver Alert, which was NOT done for my parents on Monday. The DPS site says nothing about my mother, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimers, had to be driving. Crowley PD would not do a Silver Alert because my dad didn't fall into this criteria. I think the PD needs to re-read this and the public needs to know the correct criteria themselves. This is hindsight for us, but everyone needs to know this!
Hi, as a Community Outreach Specialist at Life Line Screening, The Nation's leading provider in preventative healthcare, I wanted to let the community know about the Stroke and Vascular Disease Prevention screenings we are having in the community for seniors! ***Parents*** We live near Bicentennial park in Crowley. A white panel van circled our block 3 times as my teenage daughter walked home from the bus stop. The 3rd time it stopped next to her so she ran. She really couldn't give me any other details than that although when they came around the 3rd time she turned on her video. Cant see much but you can hear the brakes on the van squeak as it stopped. Tell your kids to pay attention and be aware of their surroundings please!!! Update** She said that the windows were tinted really dark so you couldn't see anyone inside. Police report has been made and they will be patrolling the neighborhood when the buses are letting kids off.
