SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS NEEDED!!!

Crowley PD is seeking several qualified applicants for school crossing guard positions to help keep Crowley ISD children safe as they travel to and from school.

School crossing guards assist children and other pedestrian traffic across streets at designated intersections during the hours when children are going to and returning from school. Crossing guards are expected to remain alert at all times in order to prevent hazardous traffic situations and help children travel to and from school in a safe manner. They must be reliable and dependable.

Applications are in both PD lobbies.

Any questions, please email [email protected] or call (817)297-2276 ext. 6504.

07/18/2019

New Program being offered by Crowley Police Department.

The Guardian Program was created to assist Law Enforcement during encounters with members of our community who have special needs. This includes persons who are non-verbal or affected by Autism,
Alzheimer’s, Dementia, or some other mental or intellectual disability. The goal of the program is to provide First Responders with critical information designed to help reunite families with registered participants.

HOW DOES THE GUARDIAN PROGRAM WORK?
Participation in the Crowley Guardian Program is free and voluntary. A completed application, proof of diagnosed disability, and a recent photograph of the participant must be submitted, in person, to the Crowley Police Department by the parent or guardian.

ELIGIBILITY
Participant or guardian must be a resident of the City of Crowley; and/or
Participant must attend school within the Crowley City Limits.

Participant may be unable to communicate basic personal information, or is prone to wander away or run away from guardian, home, or school due to a diagnosed medical disorder.

Applications are in each lobby of the Police Department.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The application information and a current photo will be stored in our secure records database. Juvenile and health information will not be released to the public and is utilized solely for the purpose of providing better service for the registrant and the families during times of crisis.

Each year, registration must be updated. A recent photo should be provided to help identify the child or dependent adult. The registry should be updated immediately with any change in address, phone number, emergency contact, or purchase of a new vehicle.

HOW DOES THE GUARDIAN PROGRAM MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
If a special needs child or adult goes missing and is reported by the parent or guardian, information about physical appearance, the most likely places where he or she would go to, as well as triggers, stimulants, and de-escalation techniques will be available to every first responder in the area who is looking for the missing person. If the individual has not been reported and is incapable of effectively communicating his/her name to an officer, officers may use the individual’s physical description to search applicable registry photos, allowing first responders to make a more timely identification.

The Guardian Program registry allows police personnel to quickly access this information. Please be aware that there is no guarantee that the use of this registry will result in a positive outcome to every encounter with a First Responder. The interaction depends on the individual circumstances involved as well as the policies and procedures of the Crowley Police Department.

If you have any questions, please contact Officer Perry at (817)297-2276 extension 6504 or email at [email protected].
