The Lake County VSO office assists Veterans, Spouses, and Dependents in completing necessary forms and documents to apply for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our office files claims by appointment only, please call our office to schedule an appointment or consultation. If you need State forms for property tax deductions, license plates, or vehicle excise please call ahead and let

us know you are coming by. The County VSO informs Veterans, dependents, and surviving spouses of their eligibility for benefits payable through the Department of Veterans Affairs. We do not have access to the Department of Veterans Affairs database. You must submit supporting documents with your application for Federal or State benefits. We CANNOT look up records or military discharges (DD-214) unless the Veteran had recorded his military discharge with the County Recorders Office.

What we do

Our office files claims by appointment only, please call our office to schedule an appointment or consultation. We DO NOT take walk-ins for appointments. If you need State forms completed property tax deductions, license plates (military/disabled), or vehicle excise we can assist you on a walk in basis.

The CVSO informs veterans, dependents, and survivors of their eligibility for benefits payable through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Assist in obtaining addresses for benefits payable through Social Security Administration and other Federal/State government agencies. Completes forms for Disability and Pension benefits that may be payable through the Department of Veterans Affairs. Records original discharges (DD214) with the County Recorder’s office. The Lake County Veterans Service Office is a County Agency. We DO NOT have access to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs computer systems. You must submit supporting documents with application for Federal or State benefits. We CANNOT look up any records or DD-214s related to a Veteran.
