Brotherhood at its finest

Today, the ENTIRE Baltimore City Fire Department will be placed out of service to honor the three fallen firefighters from last week. An article posted on Facebook stated that this is the first known occurrence of its kind.

With that being said, volunteers from fire companies all over the state (and beyond) will be taking their own apparatus to Baltimore to cover their stations.

Marine Unit 219 from Marine Emergency Team 21 broke through 2" of ice in frigid temperatures to cover the district of City Fire Boat 1 for the duration of the funeral today.

Additionally, some stations will be pulling double duty to help cover the areas that the transfers are coming from.

These are the kind of relationships that exist in emergency services. No one asks for pay, reimbursement of expenses or anything else in return, as the conversation usually just ends with “what time do you need us there”.

Local #72 members that are also members of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association are eligible to apply for $750 college scholarship for their child/grandchild. Link is listed below within the post

Sheriff David Reynolds announced today that the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association will again be awarding college scholarships to qualified high school seniors or college students who are pursuing a degree in criminal justice studies. There will be approximately 40 -$750 scholarships awarded to qualifying students throughout the state.

The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Fund was established for the purpose of receiving, investing and dispensing of funds to provide college scholarships to qualified students who are committed to pursuing an education and career in the law enforcement field.

To qualify for one of these scholarships, the applicant must be an Indiana resident, be a current member of the association or a dependent child or grandchild of a current member of the association, attend an Indiana college or university, major in a law enforcement field and enroll as a full-time student (12 hours).
Applications needed to apply for the scholarships are available from your high school counselor or the Sheriff’s Office.

The scholarship application can also be downloaded from the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association website: www.indianasheriffs.org. The applications must be completed and received by the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association on or before April 1, 2022.
