Rest easy pup.

Retired K9 Dante passed away peacefully at 11:17 pm tonight in the arms of his handler. It was our honor to assist this team throughout his career, and throughout his retirement. Through major spinal surgery earlier in his career, we were always there because he was family. K9 Dante is credited with finding a missing autistic little boy, saving his handlers life, and his cat like ninja skills. I was honored to be here tonight before and after his passing and share my appreciation of him, and give him some more atta boys. Dante, thank you for taking care of Luke and the family over the years. You were the very first K9 I ever vested and protected. We will forever have that special bond. Now you can rest easy. Fly high sweet boy. If love could keep them alive, they would live forever.
This year has been devastating for our K9 families. ๐Ÿ’”

Deputy Jon Samuelson of the LaPorte County Sheriffs Department is the officer in critical condition after being shot this morning at Franciscan Hospital in Michigan City. There are official press releases with more details. We want to share this picture of Jon with K9 Bosco, and ask for prayers for Jon.

We have so many great pictures and videos of Jon along with Bosco, like this one, helping us shine a light on the community good done by those in law enforcement through ride-alongs, K9 demos, and videos highlighting local first responders. Jon is one of our Heroes.

In true hero fashion it seems Jon had stopped to help what appeared to be a stranded motorist, taking him to the hospital. That very person he helped is the one who later shot him.

No sense can be made of senseless acts. We turn to God with hope and prayers for healing for Jon. We ask you to look at this picture. To put a face to this heroes name if you did not know him and pleaseโ€ฆ pray for Deputy Jon Samuelson, his family, and his brothers and sisters in the first responder family.

Hey, Crown Point๐Ÿ‘‹ Our officers have been responding to a lot of calls regarding e-bikes lately.

E-bikes are regulated the same as bicycles in the State of Indiana, but there are some rules you should be mindful of before hitting the road.๐Ÿšฒ

โ€ผ๏ธAll e-bikes must have pedals. No pedals = an electric dirt bike, which is considered a motorized vehicle
โŒE-bikes are not permitted on the sidewalk in the downtown business district or any B1 area per City Ord. 74.09
๐Ÿ“‹No license, insurance or registration is required for e-bikes
โ›‘๏ธHelmets are required for Class 3 riders
โšก๏ธThe e-bike motor must be 750W or less
1๏ธโƒฃ5๏ธโƒฃRider must be at least 15 years old for Class 3 e-bikes

Ride safe. Follow the law. Share the road.
