Congrats to Juls, our May employee of the month!
As our bookkeeper, Juls is always on top of lots of moving pieces, bringing a smile and a kind word wherever she goes. She keeps the AACFB books in order, so the organization can thrive and grow. Thanks, Juls!

We'd like to give a big thank you to the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County and its Fund for Anne Arundel! Thanks to the foundation's generosity, we'll be able to pilot a farmers' market-style food distribution in South County starting later this summer! We are excited to bring fresh, locally sourced produce to our neighbors in South County, in partnership with The Miracle Temple Inc. Church.

It doesn’t get talked about a lot, but feminine hygiene products can be a real strain on household budgets and cause women and girls to miss work and school for lack of appropriate products.

Yesterday, the food bank received a generous donation of 50 hygiene kits from Manuella King, founder and director of Grace Helping Hands, an organization dedicated to providing essential hygiene and feminine care products to women and children experiencing homelessness. These kits, with feminine hygiene products, shampoo, toothbrushes, and lip balm, will be directed to partner pantries across our network serving these populations.

At the same time, one of the wonderful volunteers on our Mobile Food Pantry noticed the same lack of products and donated enough money to pay for enough feminine hygiene products to distribute through the mobile pantry for the next six months!

We couldn't do everything we do without our wonderful volunteers. Recently, we've had help from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Keller Williams Select Realtors, and of course, our friends at Northwestern Mutual - Annapolis. Thanks to everyone who helped out!

We're going deep on Monday! Deep Run Rec Center at 1788 Dorsey Rd, that is.

The Mobile Food Pantry will be there from 11 am to 1pm on Monday, May 18, along with our friends from Kaiser Permanente's Mobile Health Team.

They will be providing health education and screenings. We're bringing the fruits and veggies, lean proteins, shelf-stable goods, senior supplies, and feminine hygiene products.

Food drives don't get much easier than this!
This Saturday, May 9, leave a bag of (shelf-stable) food by your mailbox, and your letter carrier will pick it up and get it to your local food bank (in AA County, that's us!).
Thanks to the USPS and the National Association of Letter Carriers for their support!

Congrats to our employee of the month for April, Sarah Reilly!
As Director of Development and External Relations, Sarah's the one who brings in the money to support everything we do, from buying food to paying salaries, and then letting everyone know what we've been up to. Thanks, Sarah, for making it all possible! (And we're pretty sure she'd want us to add this: visit aafoodbank.org/donate!)
