Adults in Jefferson County are facing rising mental health needs that are deeply intertwined with basic‑needs instability and limited access to care.

What are Jefferson County adults struggling with most right now? Local agencies are seeing clear patterns, and they highlight where our community can make the biggest impact.

- Mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, and trauma remain widespread.
- Basic needs such as food, housing, and financial stability are major stressors for many adults.
- Access barriers, especially transportation, make it hard for residents to get the help they need.

“The greatest unmet need in Jefferson County is two needs that become one… housing and transportation. Without these, adults can’t access the services that support their well‑being.”
- Compass Health (CHI)

The message is clear: our community is at a turning point, and the need is outpacing the support.

At GaitWay, we support growth at every stage of life.

Our Dream Maker Program is designed for teen girls (ages 13–18), where they learn responsibility, work ethic, and leadership through hands-on horse care and real ranch responsibilities—earning opportunities like riding lessons and show team involvement along the way.

Our Dream Catcher Program is for adult women (ages 19+), offering a space to build confidence, find community, and reconnect with themselves through meaningful, ground based experiences with horses.

Two different programs.
One shared purpose.

Helping girls and women grow into the most confident, capable versions of themselves.

In our Family Support Program, 74.6% of clients experiencing suicidal thoughts show improvement after receiving care. 💚

That number represents real moments: when someone feels heard, when a family finds direction, when things begin to feel a little more manageable.

Counseling doesn’t change everything overnight. But it can create space for hope, healing, and next steps.

If you or someone you know could benefit from support, we’re here.
