I am truly humbled and honored to have been presented with an award from the Middle Rio Grande Development Council, selected by Mayor Jose Angel Cerda, in grateful appreciation for always going above and beyond to serve the community of Crystal City.
Honestly, this recognition came as a complete surprise to me, and it means more than words can express. I have been with the City of Crystal City for over 30 years, and throughout all those years, I have had the privilege of working in local government and serving the people of this community.
I have always believed that public service is more than just a job—it is a commitment to the people you serve. I love my community, I have a heart for Crystal City, and I am grateful for every opportunity I have had to serve my people.
I would like to sincerely thank Mayor Jose Angel Cerda for his touching words and for taking the time to recognize me and explain why he selected me for this award. His words truly touched my heart.
This is an honor I will cherish, and I am deeply grateful to be part of the Crystal City community. After more than 30 years of service, I can honestly say that serving my community has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
Thank you, Mayor Cerda, for this meaningful recognition. My heart is full of gratitude. ❤️

🏟️ LA CANCHA SAGRADA – A SPECIAL PHOTO EXHIBIT AT THE CRYSTAL CITY LIBRARY 🇲🇽⚽

The City of Crystal City is proud to invite our community to visit a special photo display celebrating “La Cancha Sagrada” (The Sacred Field) at the Crystal City Library.

⚽ La Cancha Sagrada highlights the deep connection between soccer, culture, community, and Mexican identity. Through this collection of photographs, visitors can experience how the soccer field is more than just a place to play, it is a gathering place where friendships are formed, traditions are shared, and generations come together through their love of the game.

🎉 Happy Retirement, Elsa Gutierrez! 🎉

Today, we had the honor of celebrating a very special member of our team, Elsa Gutierrez, as she begins a well-deserved retirement after 16 years of dedicated service as our Utility Clerk! ❤️

Throughout her many years of service, Elsa treated every customer with respect, kindness, and a welcoming smile. Her dedication, loyalty, and positive attitude made a lasting impact on our organization, her coworkers, and the many customers she served. She truly was one of the best employees we could have asked for, and she will be greatly missed!

Our Administration and Police Department staff came together to shower Elsa with appreciation and celebrate this wonderful milestone. We enjoyed a delicious brisket meal with all the trimmings, a beautiful retirement cake, and many thoughtful gifts as a token of our appreciation for her years of outstanding service. 🎂🎁

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mayor Jose Angel Cerda and Mayor Pro Tem Andralin Marquez for joining us in celebrating Elsa’s retirement. We greatly appreciate their presence and their kind wishes for Elsa as she begins this exciting new chapter in her life.

A heartfelt thank you to our staff who cooked the wonderful meal and helped put everything together to make Elsa’s celebration so special. We also want to extend a special thank you to Elsa’s family for joining us and sharing this memorable occasion with her. 💐

🚛 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – CITY OF CRYSTAL CITY

The City of Crystal City would like to inform residents that our sanitation truck experienced mechanical issues, causing a delay in our garbage collection schedule. As a result, we are currently one day behind on our routes.

If your trash was not picked up on your scheduled day, please leave your garbage cans at the curb. The truck has now been repaired, and our sanitation crew is working diligently to catch up on all missed routes. We expect to resume our regular collection schedule as soon as possible.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we work to get back on schedule.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be conducting repairs on FM 65 (Veterans Avenue) During this time, portions of the roadway will be temporarily closed, and a pilot car will be escorting traffic through the work zone.

The affected streets will reopen at 7:00 a.m.

Please use caution, expect possible delays, and be patient while crews complete the repairs. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as this important work is completed.
