Spending time in nature is a powerful, research-backed tool for improving mental health, offering significant reductions in stress, anxiety, and cortisol levels. Take advantage of this beautiful day- while caring for your mental health.

Suggestions for you day:

Take a Mindful Walk: Walk your yard, neighborhood or an area park- and actively noticing the sounds, scents, and sights of nature. What plants do you see? What birds do you hear? Can you smell the freshly cut grass?

"Grounding" Activities: Plant a garden or tend to your indoor plants!

Digital Detox: Take a stroll through your local park without looking at your phone.

❤️The article profiles the young social worker in Aurora who created an on-site food and clothing pantry at Family Counseling Service to help clients meet basic needs that impact their mental health. What began as a small donation bin grew into a full “donation closet,” making essential items easily accessible and reducing barriers to care. Ingram’s initiative reflects his dedication to serving the community and highlights the importance of addressing basic needs alongside therapy.

🎓The East Aurora High School alum earned his Associate of Arts from Waubonsee Community College, his Bachelor of Social Work from Aurora University, and his Master of Social Work from Aurora University.

We want to take a moment to address recent announcements regarding KIN and the visitation center.

The McHenry County Family Visitation & Resource Home has been a shared project between KIN and ROAN since its establishment in 2021. It has been an important partnership and allowed each of us to blossom. While KIN may be pausing its involvement in the visitation home to focus on other initiatives, ROAN will continue providing services.

We sincerely apologize for any confusion or surprise AND we want to be clear: ROAN will continue providing supervised visitation, parenting support, and therapeutic services to the families we serve.

As this transition unfolds, there may be some adjustments in the near future. Our priority is to ensure continuity of care and minimize any disruption. We are committed to keeping you informed every step of the way.
