Faces Behind the Roads – Friday Spotlight

This week we’re recognizing Jeff Galanty – Road Crew.

Jeff is one of our newer crew members but he's a hard worker. He helps support the tree crew and supports daily operations that residents rely on. Jeff has been a wonderful addition to the road district.

Styrofoam Recycling Update!!!

TUESDAY, AUGUST 11 - DELAYED OPENING

Due to the severe weather, the Styrofoam drop-off site will have a delayed open. Our shed will be open today from 12-2pm. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

🌳 BRUSH PICKUP UPDATE 🌳

Due to the recent storm and the additional brush pickup requests received over the weekend, our Road District crew has a larger-than-normal volume to work through.

🚛 Please allow up to 4 days for your brush to be picked up. We appreciate your patience as our crew works through each scheduled location.

♻️ Groot Customers: If you live on an unincorporated road covered under the Groot contract, Groot provides weekly brush pickup. Please review Groot’s requirements for how brush must be prepared and placed for collection under your contract.

🪾Due to potential weather impact please be patient as the crew makes their way around our township.

What a wonderful day at Touch A Truck 2026!

As Highway Commissioner, I sincerely want to thank all of the residents, families, and community members who chose to spend part of their Saturday with us. Seeing everyone exploring the trucks, meeting the people behind them, and simply enjoying time together is what makes this event so special.

A tremendous amount of work goes into making Touch A Truck possible, and I cannot say enough about our Road District staff and volunteers. From the preparation leading up to today to everything that happened behind the scenes during the event—thank you. Your hard work, patience, and commitment to our community made today possible.

We were also incredibly fortunate to have so many community partners join us. A very special thank you to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, Cary Fire Protection District, Fox River Grove Fire Department, and Fox River Grove Police Department for spending the day with us and helping make this event such a great experience.

And HUGE kudos to the Fox River Grove Lions Club and Kona Ice! 🍧🦁 Thank you for being such a wonderful part of the day and helping us take care of everyone who came out to enjoy the event.

There is a saying that people may forget what you said, but they will remember how you made them feel. I sincerely hope that everyone who joined us today felt welcome and included—during our Sensory Friendly Hour and throughout the entire event.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve this community, and days like today are a wonderful reminder of what can happen when residents, employees, volunteers, first responders, local organizations, and businesses all come together.

🚧 Road District Office Closed for Touch A Truck 🚧

The Algonquin Township Road District office is now closed as our team prepares for tomorrow’s Touch A Truck event! 🚜🚒🚓

The office will reopen on Monday at 8:00 AM following the event.

♻️ Please note: All recycling services are suspended until after Touch A Truck on Saturday, August 8, and will resume once the event has concluded.
