Horizons for the Blind provides Braille and large-print transcription services that help students access textbooks, classroom materials, worksheets, and other educational resources independently. Every student deserves the opportunity to learn with confidence.

Congratulations to JMS Marketing for being recognized with the 2026 Apex Award for Publication Excellence in designing the website for Horizons for the Blind (www.horizons-blind.org). JMS worked closely with Horizons’ staff to produce an accessible website for blind, visually impaired and other users with a disability. The new Horizons’ website was chosen from about 1,000 entries and demonstrates that websites can be both visually appealing and fully accessible.

Today we celebrate National Disability Independence Day, commemorating the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the progress made toward equal opportunity and accessibility.

While much has been accomplished, there is still important work to do to ensure that information, workplaces, public spaces, and services are accessible to everyone.
At Horizons for the Blind, we're proud to continue that mission every day by helping make printed information accessible through Braille and large-print services.
