Southeast Emergency Communications (SEECOM) is a regional consolidated 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center (ECC) serving a population of 201,000+ in 100 square miles of McHenry County, Illinois. A staff of 31 handles 9-1-1, police, fire and EMS dispatch services for 13 agencies.

Our Public Safety Telecommunicators had a very special visitor today! Bethesda, the Lutheran Church Charities comfort dog drop by our emergency communication center to offer some love, extra smiles, and a few extra paw-sitive moments during a busy shift.

As you can see, Bethesda took her job very seriously, getting a front row seat at the radio console and checking out the computer screens to see how our team keeps our communities safe every single day!

A huge thank you to Bethesda and her handler team for bringing such comfort, joy, and peace to the first responders behind the headset. Your visit means the world to us!

Future First Responders Behind the Scenes!

We were thrilled to host the Cary Fire Cadets at SEECOM for an inside look at how emergency communications work!

The cadets got a tour of our center, learned about the critical role 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators play during emergencies, and saw firsthand how technology and teamwork come together to support our first responders and communities.

When fire departments need assistance, they call additional fire departments.

When 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicators need assistance, who answers the call?

Through IL TERT (Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce), additional 9-1-1 Telecommunicators answer the call to support their fellow 9-1-1 Telecommunicators during disasters and major crises.

We would like to take a moment to recognize Public Safety Telecommunicator Mike Jurkowski!

PST Jurkowski was recently acknowledged by the Cary Fire Protection District for his efforts during a cardiac arrest call that ultimately resulted in a successful save.

Public Safety Telecommunicators are often the first "first responder" in the chain of survival. Having recently celebrated his 18th year of service at SEECOM, Mike’s experience and ability to remain calm under pressure ensure he is always ready to answer the call when our communities need him the most.

Our SEECOM staff had a fantastic time participating in the recent Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Open House! Beyond the trucks and equipment, our team loved connecting face-to-face with the community, sharing vital behind-the-scenes insights on how 911 works, and teaching residents when and how to call in an emergency.

A special moment of gratitude was shared as Northwest Central Dispatch Public Safety Telecommunicator Shasta connected with SEECOM to stand together in tribute, ensuring that the vital link of our emergency services was recognized alongside police, fire, and military personnel.

We remember those we lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and thank the dedicated public safety professionals who keep our community safe every day. Never forget!
