📢 SANDBAG PICKUP UPDATE 📢

With floodwaters receding, the Nunda Township Road District crew is out picking up sandbags across the community.

If you haven’t already, please move your sandbags to the roadside so our crews — and the “claw” 🦾 — can scoop them up efficiently.

🗓 Reminder: We plan to complete sandbag pickup by June 1st.

📢 **VOLUNTEER HELP NEEDED** 📢

As floodwaters have receded, we now have several senior residents who need assistance taking down their flood walls and moving sandbags to the side of the road so the Nunda Township Road District can pick them up.

If you have some time and are willing to help, **your assistance would be greatly appreciated**.

Many of these residents cannot safely handle the heavy lifting on their own.

Thank you, once again, for continuing to support our neighbors and our community.

At these free, one-stop events you can:
✅ Find out if you qualify for financial assistance
✅ Report flood damage in person
✅ Obtain well water sampling kits and instructions
✅ Learn about financial assistance available to Veterans
✅ Get cleanup supplies
✅ Speak with the IL Dept. of Insurance about claims
✅ Connect with multiple recovery agencies — all in one place!
Residents from both Lake County and McHenry County are welcome at either location.

📣 A Message from the Nunda Road District

Dear Nunda Residents,

Over the past week, our community has shown extraordinary strength. Neighbors, volunteers, and friends came together in a moment of crisis, working side by side to protect our homes and each other. Because of that unity, Nunda has weathered a challenge none of us will soon forget.

As we move into the final stages of recovery, the Nunda Road District will begin removing more than 90,000 sandbags placed throughout our neighborhoods. This is a major undertaking, and we want to make the process as smooth and efficient as possible.

🟦 HOW YOU CAN HELP:
When you feel comfortable and it is safe to do so, please move sandbags from your private property to the edge of the roadway. Our road crews will collect and dispose of them properly.

🤝 NEED A HAND? OR CAN YOU LEND ONE?
If you are unable to move the bags yourself, please don't hesitate to reach out to a neighbor — and if you are able, please lend a hand to those who may need assistance. The same spirit that helped us protect our community will help us restore it.
Together, we have already accomplished so much. Now, by continuing to support one another, we can clear the final remnants of this tragedy and place it firmly in our rearview mirror.

📢 VOLUNTEER UPDATE 📢

At this time, we are pausing our call for volunteers for sandbag operations.

Thanks to the tremendous response from our community and the continued work of the Nunda Township Road District crew, we currently have the support we need. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who stepped up, shared posts, and came out to help.

Conditions will continue to be monitored closely. If additional assistance is needed, we will communicate promptly.

Thank you, Nunda Township, for showing what neighbors helping neighbors truly looks like. 💙

Rawson Bridge Rd from the Broken Oar to Tuxedo Ln in Cary will be closed until further notice due to flooding.

Thank you to Niko Kanakaris, soon-to-be owner of Niko's on the Fox - McHenry, IL for stepping up in a big way today!

After seeing a post this morning asking for volunteers, Niko generously provided lunch for everyone helping out at Nunda Township.

This is what community is all about — local businesses supporting neighbors when it matters most. We appreciate you, Niko! 👏
