Thank you to our amazing local businesses who donated to the winner baskets for the Jimmy Buffett Day Costume Contest, which will take place during our Jimmy Buffett Day Concert Event 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝙎𝙐𝙉𝘿𝘼𝙔, Aug. 30 from 𝟰:𝟯𝟬-𝟴 𝗣𝗠 in Town Square! 🌴

We have so many great prizes, including gift cards to Bayside Seafood Grille, Aggregation Distilling, KC Wine Bistro, The Wine Shop & Wine Bar - Crystal River, Guyer's Ice Cream & Doughnuts, and The General Store

Notice to Residents: Dengue Case Confirmed in Citrus County

The Florida Department of Health in Citrus County (DOH-Citrus) has confirmed a locally acquired case of dengue fever. In collaboration with Citrus County Mosquito Control, they are enhancing surveillance and prevention efforts, including increased truck fogging, aerial larviciding, and ground inspections for mosquito breeding sites.

Dengue may cause flu-like symptoms, including severe muscle and joint pain, fever, and occasionally a rash, typically appearing within 15 days of being bitten by an infected mosquito. Remember, dengue fever is not contagious and is spread through the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti mosquito.

To protect yourself from mosquito bites, please follow these precautions:
- Wear loose-fitting, long-sleeved shirts and pants.
- Use EPA-registered insect repellents on exposed skin and clothing; these are safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women when used as directed.
- Manage mosquito populations by repairing damaged screens and draining any standing water in containers around your home.

Students first heard from City of Crystal River-Government Manager Audra Curts, who shared her journey and highlighted the partnership between AES and the City of Crystal River.

The City of Crystal River is committed to maintaining boat access for our community.

“We hear the wishes and the concerns of closing a ramp,” Mayor Joe Meek said. “We're dedicated to looking at every option that's out there and seeing what we can do.”

There will be a brief discussion on the possibility of relocating the motorized boat ramp to Kings Bay Park at Monday's City Council meeting; however, before the city can commit to the idea, it would need to be determined if the site can actually accommodate a motorized ramp while maintaining the other uses planned for Kings Bay Park.

“It's very early in the process, but I will say that the city and our staff have been working very hard to look at all the options that are out there to attempt to maintain a ramp in the Kings Bay area,” Meek said.

Crystal River officials are looking at an unexpected possibility for keeping a motorized boat ramp in the Kings Bay area: moving it to Kings Bay Park.
