Celebrating REFUGE DAY today virtually. Check out our page at 1pm for a live manatee talk from 3 Sisters. We will also have a virtual bird tour at 9AM and a special "animal" yoga lesson at 11 from 3 Sisters as well. These may be viewed on our refuge FB page, Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. Entrance fee into 3 Sisters is reduced by $5 today. Come by, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the beauty of this magical place, part of our refuge!

The Friends of Crystal River NWR Complex have started a new page to help support the Friends group. The change comes to reflect the current name of the friends group and will be used to help spread the news of current events and other activities. The Friends held a drawing at the Strawberry Festival in Floral City for a brand new Emotion Spitfire Kayak, donated by “A Crystal River Kayak Company.” Shown are (front row) winners Sue and Joe Sanders and (back row) Friends VP and Raffle Chair Tom Gotterup, Crystal River Kayak Company owner Mary Morgan, and store assistant Ray Evans. This fundraiser brought in over $1,800 for the Friends and will be used for many of our efforts such as the school education program, collection of aerial manatee data, and other needs regarding the Refuge and its wildlife.

The Friends' Educational Team (Friends' instructors and refuge staff) brought real outdoor lessons to the 4th and 5th graders of Homosassa Elementary School. The 5th graders visited the Salt March Trails February 20th and the 4th graders visited March 5th.

Come down to 3 Sisters today----open from 8-12. There will be a food truck and a few other things, and with these cooler temps and the sunny skies it will be a wonderful day to observe our visiting manatees. Park at BIG LOTS on Rt. 19 and bus over! Parking on the grounds is available for handicapped people only. See you there!
