The adult students at the Adult Academic Program (AAP) come from over 70 different countries and are learning English or earning their GED/Diploma. Every year, we hold a resource fair and invite local support organizations that may help our students and their families. Thanks to these local organizations, AAP students get help: finding a job, registering for career training, locating a food shelf, enrolling in college, learning about energy assistance, and more!

A big THANK YOU to the following organizations who participated in this year’s fair:
AVIVO
HIRED
PRISM
Esperanza United
Hennepin Technical College
Crystal Police Department
North Hennepin Community College
CAPI Immigrant Opportunity Center
CareerForce Center - North Minneapolis
CAP-HC (Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County)

Did you know we have a class for adults who have suffered a stroke or a brain injury? It's a free class that meets in-person and online. With the help of teachers and volunteers, students can relearn their academic skills in reading, writing, math, and on the computer. The warm and welcoming atmosphere lets students connect with others who are facing similar challenges. To learn more, scan the QR code below or call: 763-504-8300

At the Adult Academic Program, our graduation ceremony is one of our favorite events. It’s a night when we celebrate our GED & Diploma students and shower them with love and pride. This year, since September 2025, we have had 18 people who earned their GED/Diploma at our school and were invited to attend our winter graduation. Of those 18, four students joined us for the special event. We are incredibly proud of all our students who have completed their GED/Diploma! And luckily for us, we get to celebrate again with our spring graduates in May! Congratulations, Graduates of 2026! 😃🎉

Every year before winter break, our school has holiday potlucks. Students and staff are invited to bring a dish to share with others, then we all gather for fellowship and good cheer. We have a potluck for our day students and for our night students, so no one misses out. As proof of the smiles on everyone’s faces, the events warm the hearts of our students and staff alike! Happy Holidays to all!

Our school will be closed for winter break from December 22 – January 2. Classes resume on Monday, January 5, 2026. Questions? Please leave a message at 763-504-8300 Register online at Rdale.org/AAP

¿Preguntas? Deje un mensaje al 763-504-8300. Regístrese en línea en Rdale.org/AAP

Helping Students with their Next Chapter:

Recently, a representative from Hennepin Technical College (HTC) came to the Adult Academic Program (AAP) to inform our students about college and the registration process.

For many of our students, HTC is the next chapter in their educational journey. And for years, AAP and HTC have been partners offering a College Prep class online and on campus at HTC in Brooklyn Park. Additionally, for the last two years, one of our AAP teachers has been a co-teacher with an HTC professor in their developmental English class.

At an affordable price, HTC offers over 40 degree and non-degree programs. And studies show that earning a degree or credential after high school / GED leads to jobs with a sustainable wage and a future with greater income security. Together, as partners, AAP and HTC are helping students reach the next chapter in their educational journey!

In coordination with the district’s Staff Charitable Giving Campaign, the Adult Academic Program (AAP) and Robbinsdale Transition Center (RTC) staff held a chili cook-off at the Crystal Learning Center (CLC). In the morning of the big contest, six brave chefs brought in their homemade chili in hopes of winning the trophy. Then, at the end of the workday, AAP and RTC staff were welcomed to the building’s cafeteria to taste and vote for a winner. And they took the challenge very seriously! For a minimum donation of $5, each staff member received tasting cups, a voting ballot, and ample time to savor every chili and decide on their favorite. Together, the CLC staff raised $138, and all proceeds went to the Seven Dreams Education Foundation! And the winner of our first annual chili cook-off is…our Math Teacher, Andy! Congratulations!

Thank you to all the AAP and RTC staff who participated in the chili contest and those who donated to this year’s Charitable Giving Campaign! THANK YOU! 🙂🌶
