Fire Danger remains VERY HIGH today for Grant and surrounding counties. 🔥 What “Very High” Fire Danger Means:

Fires can start easily and spread rapidly.
Fine fuels like grass, leaves, and brush ignite quickly—even from small sparks.
Wind can cause fires to grow out of control in minutes.

ALL BURNING IN THE DNR FIRE PROTECTION AREA (most areas North of Highway 18 + Wyalusing Township) IS PROHIBITED. Residents in the remainder of Grant County are strongly encouraged to refrain from any outdoor burning, including burn barrels.

ALL BURNING IN THE DNR FIRE PROTECTION AREA (most areas North of Highway 18 + Wyalusing Township) IS PROHIBITED. Residents in the remainder of Grant County are strongly encouraged to refrain from any outdoor burning, including burn barrels.

Wisconsin law provides that a person responsible for causing a wildfire is responsible for all suppression costs and also liable to landowners for damages caused by that fire--in some cases liable for double the damages caused.

Grant County will conduct warning siren testing in all municipalities on Monday. In some areas, this will consist of a brief “growl” test, where the siren is activated and then quickly silenced. In other communities, the tests will run for a full siren cycle.

These tests are part of the transition to our new countywide radio system and are being conducted to confirm that all equipment is operating reliably and as designed.

These tests are NOT a part of Wisconsin's statewide tornado drill, which will take place on Thursday, April 16th (stay tuned for more outreach on that!)

BLIZZARD WARNING ISSUED UNTIL 1 PM CDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations between 6 and 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...Crawford, Grant, and Richland Counties.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
your vehicle. Visit 511wi.gov for road conditions.

Attention all deer hunters. If you’re looking for a place to get rid of your deer hides please place them in the plastic tote by the east entrance of quality motors. The owner of the tote will donate money to the Cuba City Fire Department for each deer hide that is put in there.
