Officers responded after receiving an anonymous tip regarding her location. Upon arrival, Cuba Police Department officers successfully located and arrested Maestas without incident.

The Cuba Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in locating Victorio Ann Maestas (DOB: 12/27/1982).

Maestas is currently wanted on the following charges:

Aggravated Battery (Deadly Weapon) – Third Degree Felony (2 Counts)
False Imprisonment – Fourth Degree Felony
Interference with Communications – Misdemeanor

A warrant has been issued, and it is extraditable anywhere within the State of New Mexico.
Bond has been set at $20,000.00 cash only.

The Cuba Police Department is providing an update regarding the recently located horse.

This matter has been formally turned over to the New Mexico Livestock Board, which has primary jurisdiction over livestock-related investigations. The Cuba Police Department is continuing to assist as needed.

This remains an active investigation, and appropriate enforcement action is being pursued. Due to the ongoing nature of the case, no further details will be released at this time.

Additional information will be shared with the public once the investigation has concluded.

On April 14, 2026, officers with the Cuba Police Department responded to a reported shoplifting incident at a local business. Through a quick response and proactive patrol, the suspect was located in the immediate area.

During the investigation, the individual was found in possession of stolen merchandise. Officers also located suspected he**in and drug paraphernalia, including needles. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Sandoval County Detention Center. All stolen items were recovered and returned to the business.

This incident is a reminder that even small-dollar thefts have a large impact. Repeated shoplifting incidents can significantly affect local businesses, employees, and ultimately the community as a whole.

Through our Business Watch Program, the Cuba Police Department is working closely with local businesses to deter theft, improve communication, and respond quickly to criminal activity. Partnerships like these allow us to identify suspects faster and take enforcement action when necessary.

We encourage all business owners to participate in the Business Watch Program and to report suspicious activity immediately. Your involvement plays a critical role in keeping our community safe and supporting local businesses.
